Shunka 08-263 [1]

Introducing Mr. "Shunka" - ah yes - his name is Dakota for Dog. He has been with me just a few days and words simply won't do him justice - a very gentle spirit. Shunka is 11 years old and a gentleman of the highest order. He is a very laid back guy - "let's just hang out" those brown eyes say. I'll be right by you if you'd like to sit on the deck and knit for a couple hours - Shunka likes to be close for hugs and loves. As a puppy he went away to learn all of his manners and he hasn't forgotten one! We haven't tested the leash much but I can't imagine things not going well - here's the leash update - really only needed for the owner!!! He stays very close - not a big sniffer yet - but we amble along and Shunka's tail wags wags wags!!!

He is wonderfully trim - no middle age spread on this guy. He does have allergies that raise havoc with his skin and ears - but he has recently changed his diet and even these are clearing. His vet gave him a "send off" appointment and declared him healthy. OK, one fatty blob that has been checked and rechecked - all is well - the mindful forever owner will simply have this looked at during his "annual". Shunka is not wanting to get all 4's on hardwood. Such a fascinating behavior to see 3 paws on the smooth surface - the 4th is used to pivot back to carpet. He is a dream companion.

He loves children and is gentle as a lamb, other dogs are fine - he hasn't experienced cats. He is invisible fence trained, I have a fenced yard that permits him to amble as his spirit moves.

On his first day home alone, he was perfect - greeted me with a non-stop tail wagging "welcome home". My heart sang.
