Profile

4/14/06: Hi! my name is Smiley and I am a pacifist. Yes, and proud of it, so don't go trying to recruit me into any of your hunting parties! My, that is a good looking cat over there. Now, chasing is another story - balls, sticks, rabbits and humm,,,, that is a good looking cat over there. But only if they run, of course. The cat in the house is fine. It's those skitter barn cats that I can't resist.

I am handsome to the max; able to roam the house freely and safely; do not touch any of my human's things - but I will gather my toys from the middle of a cabinet, table, shelf or whatever - somehow without messing up anything else.

I like to fetch, love to wrestle and my favorite hangout is under a nice spruce tree. One time when my human friend was brushing me I walked away and ended up helping our neighbor get her mail. Guess I need a fenced yard or a tie-out!

I am not a barker although when our owner's dog, Marty barks at dogs and toe fungus beasts on TV we all, (except Marty who aggressively protects us all from the TV enemies) run to a window and bark to make sure nothing else is trying to get us. My first owner told my new humans that I didn't have to have my nails trimmed because I chew them off - do I really do that?? (Humans - I don't know)

I really am perfect (I heard my humans say so) and humble. My name comes naturally as you will find out as soon as you meet me. Love ya.... Smiley

Human Note: This is a really fine dog. We are amazed at his good manners and good nature. Smiley doesn't have a mean or unhappy bone in his body. He is energetic and pulls a little on the leash but has had training and will learn very quickly. Working with Smiley to heel, etc. will make him very happy as he likes to be busy.

Smiley is an easy keeper in the house. He likes to snuggle and cuddle and is just plain sweet. He has had free roam of our house with two other dogs for the past week - from day one - and there has never been a problem. He will be good with another dog, and may even prefer a furry pal. I believe he will be good with cats as he doesn't actively chase our house cat. When he does encounter her he is quite casual about it - but no guarantees because he will chase things that jump up in the yard. We have three of the best right now and Smiley is one of them.
