Meet Snowball!! Or Snowie as I prefer to call him:) Snowie is a Golden mix, possibly English Cream Golden, but a beautiful dog for sure!
Snowie was rescued by a good samaritan named Kitra. Kitra worked her magic and convinced the owners of Snowball to turn him over to her care. Snowball had been chained in the back yard with nothing but a rough plywood box to live in. By their own admission, the owners said they rarely fed or watered him and were actually thinking of letting him go in the country or just shooting him, but thankfully Kitra gained their trust and she was able to save Snowball. Thank you Kitra; Snowie is now on his way to living a golden life thanks to you!
Snowie arrived after a long journey and a ride from RAGOM volunteers Jan and Mary. He rode very well in the car and is very sweet. He met my resident Nala with no problems, although Nala wants to play with him and, unfortunately, I do not think Snowie knows much about other dogs as he doesn't seem to understand the playbowing and the attempt at Nala trying to get him to wrestle. He just runs away from Nala as she tries to play and he looks confused and comes looking for me. Other than not knowing how to play, he so far has done great with my two dogs. Since he arrived, he has gotten to know the house and yard and had two small meals. Snowie is quite skinny and really needs to put some weight on. His coat is bushy but his ribs are very prominent underneath his coat. He has come to the right house to get some weight on him. No dog leaves here without gaining some weight:)
So far Snowie has displayed the best temperament. He was very good as another RAGOM volunteer Kelly and I cut out his matted hair and gave him a bath. I actually just held him while Kelly did all of the work, so Snowie owes Kelly a lot (or rather Snowie's foster owes Kelly a lot!)
Snowie has an appointment at the vet on Monday and then I am going to bring him to a professional groomer. Snowie has a beautiful coat but because of bad nutrition and no care, it is in bad shape and really needs a professional to get all of the mats out. The hair on his tail really should be shaved off - it's that bad. Once he gets groomed, he will be neutered and ready to go to his forever home. Whomever adopts this special boy will indeed be the lucky ones. So far, he has just been so good. More to come as we get to know him.
