Please welcome Sonny 13-033 to RAGOM. Sonny is an 11.5-year-old Golden/Lab mix. He has not had an easy life. He was adopted from a shelter in Duluth several times. He came back to the same shelter in November very close to starving to death after being dumped in a grocery store parking lot. His fur was falling out in large clumps. Thankfully, the people at Animal Allies Humane Society were able to save him. Sonny was brought up to date on vaccines and had a bad tooth pulled. The rest of his teeth were cleaned, but due to cost, no other dental work was done. Sonny is still unable to chew, so there are more dental issues to deal with yet. Sonny walks with a little bit of a limp. That is thought to be arthritis. It apparently doesn't bother him too much as he is able to walk 3+ miles without a problem every day he's been here. Sonny's blood work came back great. Everything is working as it should. Very surprising after what he went through. He was just very slightly low on iron, but that may be good by now. Sonny's hearing isn't the best. It takes a whistle or a very loud noise to get his attention.

Sonny is just a very mellow senior. He has had no problems at all with the other 3 dogs here and no problems with the 2 cats and 2 kittens. He will let the kittens eat out of his bowl while he is eating. The kitties will cuddle with him when he is napping. I believe Sonny was a outside dog for most of his life. It took a few days to get him to pee outside. I figured out his signal that he has to go is pacing back and forth. It's been a few days now with no problems since we both learned. Sonny isn't a cuddler yet but likes to be in the same room with me. Unfortunately, Sonny isn't able or doesn't know how to climb stairs. He hasn't followed to the bedroom upstairs yet. Once he gets his leg strength back, I think he will be able to climb more than a couple of stairs.

From what I know at this time, Sonny's forever home will only need to have lots of love, a soft bed, food, and daily excersize. If Sonny 13-033 sounds like the dog for you, please contact your placement advisor.
