Profile

Zeus has come back into Ragom's care when his owner moved to Sweden to be with her family. Zeus was originally a RAGOM dog in 2001, and will always have a home with RAGOM. It was very sad for his "mom" to give him up, and I promised her we'd love him and find him a perfect new home.

Zeus is a 12 1/2 year old BIG boy. If you want a living, breathing Teddy Bear to call your very own, this is the dude for you! Zeus is the original Velcro dog. He never leaves my side! He is a gentle giant. He's very tall and very long and wee bit on the stout side. His hips and shoulders are a little weak and sore from arthritis, and Zeus should really take off about 10-15# to get around a little easier. He's taking Rimadyl and Glucosamine and we've transitioned him to the same food we have our two Goldens on.

Zeus has no bad habits, unless fishing tissue out of the bathroom trash and decorating the floor with it is a bad habit. I consider it reminding me to empty the waste basket more often! He's helpful!! He's very gentle and sweet, and loves nothing more than to be petted and groomed. We had the doggy scrub-a-dub in the driveway yesterday and all three dogs got massages, pedicures, bubble baths and brush downs. I think Zeus was in 7th heaven!

The only thing I've noticed with Zeus and our two Goldens is that they tend to gang up on him when everyone is excited. I would prefer he go to a home where he's the only dog, or with another senior dog. Our 18 month old Golden challenges him and I see him being too submissive with our two. The teeth and growling are not frequent, but I'd worry about Zeus not holding his own over time. Zeus also needs a home with carpeted floors and everything on one level. He cannot do more than one or two stairs at a time. He loves having a fenced-in yard and does walk very nicely on a leash.

We think Zeus might be a little hard of hearing, as he startles easily when he's resting. I don't think he hears small sounds. His eyesight and eye-nose coordination are fine! He loves to catch treats out of the air!

Zeus may be an old dude, but he is overflowing with love and affection. He's fine with kids, he has a crush on our 4 month old kitten and doesn't bother the old fat cat. He just wants to be with his people and to lay quietly at your feet and get hugged. He loves hugs. He loves to give the Golden PAW....AAWWWW.

Would you love to be the last loving home for this old man? He probably has a couple of good years left in him, don't you want to share it with him?
