From country dog to suburban dog. That's the change that Little Girl has been adapting to. Little Girl is a 5-year-old, purebred, spayed female Golden Retriever. She used to be an outdoor dog, but has adapted well to being an indoor dog. She hasn't made any mess in the house and poops as far away from the house as possible, so we are saying she is house-trained. Some new things are a little scary, but she's handling it well. Like the automatic garage door - it makes noise and moves - and the post office truck for some reason.

When Little Girl got here, she weighed in at 97 pounds. She's overweight, but it doesn't slow her down too much. Little Girl will go up and down a ramp to get into our SUV and rides calmly. She loves going for walks and chasing tennis balls. Little Girl has learned to play tug with our resident dog, but hasn't wrestled or played chase yet. Little Girl is known to hoard all the bones on her bed. Little Girl met our 2-year-old grandson and is just fine with him. She actually has pretty much ignored him all day. She willingly goes up to adult humans for petting.

Little Girl is the daughter of Angel 15-194 . If Angel whines or barks, Little Girl will go up to comfort Angel. Sometimes, Little Girl lays right next to Angel. Little Girl had 2 other siblings, so she has never been an only dog. It's hard to guess at how she'd do home alone.

Ideally, Little Girl's forever family would adopt both Little Girl and Angel. The family must be committed to helping Little Girl get to her ideal weight - somewhere around 70-75 pounds.

Come meet these wonderful girls at Goldzilla on September 13th!

Updates

Friday, September 25, 2015

Hello, fans! It's Little Girl. I wanted to update you on how great my life continues to be as a RAGOM dog. I go for a long walk every morning with my friend Chief and foster mom. I can walk over 2 miles at a time now. Every evening, we walk with Angel, so we get slowed down, but it's still fun. I get to play tug with Chief a lot, too. I'm just starting to understand this game called chase; it seems like a lot of work. In the first 2 weeks here, I've lost 2 pounds and gained a lot of muscle from all of these walks and playing.

A couple of Sundays ago, I got to go to a park to an event called Goldzilla! It was SO much fun! Foster mom and foster dad were busy working at the event, so I got to hang out with other RAGOM fosters. I met so many people and they all loved me! I got to walk in the foster parade, then meet more people at the foster showcase tent. At the event, there was a foster fan board where people could donate money towards a specific foster dog. Since I am such a star (you know, helping my mom, Angel, to get around), I got TWO blue paw prints! THANK YOU to my donors. That means so much to me. It was a great day. (I also saw my brother Big Boy at the event, but I didn't want to play with him at all.)

On Friday of that week, some people drove a long ways (or so they said) just to meet me and Angel. I really liked them. While the lady was bending forward petting Angel, I hopped up on the couch, snuck behind her, and rested my head on the man's chest. I was trying to tell him that I picked him to be my forever dad! It worked! These new people want to adopt me and keep me FOREVER! I'm SO happy to have found a home where they will take awesome care of me and let Angel come with me, too. It's time to change my status to ADOPTED!

On Monday, we took Little Girl (and Angel and our resident dog, Chief) to our favorite lake. It was reported that Little Girl liked to swim, but we wanted to see for ourselves. It was true! She loved it! Little Girl spent the time retrieving balls or, better yet, the floating ring that Chief loves. The youngsters had a great time playing together.

Little Girl has been a perfect houseguest. No destruction, no counter-surfing, and no accidents. She does love squeaky balls, so her furever home must provide squeaky balls!

Watch for Little Girl on KARE11 on Saturday, September 12th, around 8:30 a.m.

Then, come and meet this special girl at Goldzilla on Sunday, September 13th.
