Angel 09-150

Profile

Please welcome Angel into RAGOM! She was dropped off by her loving family yesterday, so I have had her a little over 24 hours. Her family just could not care for her any longer. They love her very much and decided to do what was best for her.

Angel is 6 years old, she turned 6 last November. She has lived with cats, kids, and other dogs and is great with all. She is quite overweight right now, as she hadn't been getting much exercise at her previous home. They said she weighed 95 pounds, which I am guessing is at least 20 pounds overweight. I have already decreased her food and will probably have to get her a lite version of food for the time being. But we will see what the vet thinks. She has an appointment later this week to get totally up to date on shots and get the once over. She is already spayed so she is pretty much ready to find her forever family.

Angel gets along great with my 2 resident dogs, my three cats, and my son. She is house trained and can be left with free roam. I was told she will shred paper when left alone though, so all paper needs to be picked up :) She seems like she might be a little sore, probably from the excess weight. Her family brought all her belongings with her, and she has some soft chews with glucosamine and something in there to help with her stiffness. Once she loses some weight, it should get easier for her. Now, this is not to say she walks around like an old lady... Nope. She likes to beat me up the stairs, and she likes to run with the dogs outside. She has not done too much playing with the residents yet, but likes to chew on bones. We cannot have stuffed toys here, as they only last a couple minutes. She slept quietly on her bed last night and was a very happy camper in the morning.

Angel will not last long. She is a great girl! If you would like to meet Angel, please contact your placement advisor. She could go to just about any kind of home. She does not need another dog or a fence. Her family did say that when she is left out alone and she gets bored, she has been known to climb their 3 ft chain link fence :) I can almost envision her chubby little butt hanging over that fence :)

Angel turned 14 in November.  Forever mom says she is still getting into mischief and going on long walks.

We were hiking in Gooseberry State Park. Angel made sure we trotted right along.  And she is very comfortable in the kennel. I don't know how she decided it was ok, but she sleeps there regularly or keeps us company in the bedroom from there. This morning she decided Don didn't play fetch with her long enough and took the ball out of the planter where we had it hidden and walked up to Don with it. Ah, mischief. Good dog!

She has lost another pound. So far, so good.

Angel was adopted today by the J family! They met her on Friday and fell in love with her. She is a very lucky girl, as her new dad is retired so they can hang out all day together! They have promised her a lot of leisurely walks to help with her weight loss. I have a few pics to share of my Angel girl, one with her new mom and dad. Thanks for following Angel!
