8/5/05: My name is Bailey and I am a six and and a half year old Golden Retriever/Lab mix. Aren't I cute? Foster Mom thinks I'm a doll. I was surrendered to RAGOM with my canine sibling Penny because our humans couldn't care for us anymore. I now have two canine foster siblings. I puffed myself up and pretended I was tough to the first one and she put her paws up in a 'W' and walked away. That's a big 'whatever' for those not in the know. I've been kissing on her ever since. My other foster sibling, however, doesn't seem to like me very much. She said, "bring it on" when I puffed myself up. Apparently she couldn't see my wagging tail. I think she wants a piece of me! I'm sure we'll work it out though cuz I'm a HAPPY HAPPY girl. I've found all the toys here and have brought them one by one into the family room for my personal amusement. I am a busy, busy girl and I LOVE attention. My motto is "MORE ME NOW!" I love to give kisses and I love to be scratched and I LOVE LOVE LOVE to play. Gotta go. Things to do!

Miss Bailey had quite a week last week; her world and routine was fruit basket upset due to a foster house guest. He left on a Sunday and while the resident boy misses him a great deal this girl is happy to get back to "normal". Miss Bailey does best with the routine and structure she is accustomed to - however, overall did ok while we had a doggy house guest. During a couple of the "changing of the dogs" she managed to sneak out and came face to face with our guest. As is her history she reacted however, while it took a few commands she did respond and came back to me. This recent experience is the best she has ever done with dogs that are passing through our home. One day Miss Bailey actually played with resident boy Jackson, it was a joy to watch. She was obviously the alpha however when she crossed his line and he let her know it and she backed off. These are milestone moments for this girl and I am very proud of her.

She and the Jackson continue to walk together; I have started using an easy walker--LOVE IT--and it seems to work the best for now. This girl is so wonderful and will make a good companion to someone or a family who is committed to continuing to work with her and preferably allowing her to be the one and only pet friend. If this may be you, don't hesitate to email placementatragom [dot] org and we can talk more about her. Miss Bailey had a "photo shoot", so we have some new pics....she is sooooo cute !

Hi there!

Bailey here with the newest update on me! I am, of course, doing wonderfully. Dr. Mark took my stitches out today and said I was above the curve for healing and using my leg. What did you expect? He said I could go to my new home anytime and would have full use of my leg, so no one should think twice about adopting me. Who would think twice anyway? I still need to be kept quiet and walked, but that's it!

Do you like my new picture? I'm thinking that this could be the latest fashion for the uptown dogs.

So where is that new home of mine? Foster mom keeps saying someone will be calling soon, because I am so wonderful. I have even been nice to the dogs around here. Doesn't mean I want to live with a bunch of them though - solo would be great.

Foster mom wouldn't let me ride in my usual manner today on the way to the vet. It really makes her laugh. I like to sit in the front seat, like a person, and put my right arm on the arm rest and look out the front. Pretty cute, huh? If you adopt me, I'll do that for you!

Well, I better go before they find out I've been using the computer again!

See you soon! Bailey

It's Bailey here, checking in. Things are going GReat for me! Foster Mom says my tail never stops wagging. I love to play with my toys and I love to be outside and I love to ride in the car and I love to lay at Foster Mom's feet and I like my canine foster sisters. Okay, okay I love them too. They left for an hour the other night without me and I missed them! Foster Mom had to console me after I spent several minutes running between the doors and the windows. I don't know where they went but I was happy when they came back. I just know they missed me too. Who wouldn't? I'm adorable.

I'm gonna go to the vet in a couple days and make sure my urinary tract infection is cleared up and get an x-ray on this pesky knee. It bothers me sometimes but it doesn't slow me down! And it doesn't keep me from being a happy, happy girl. I think when life hands you lemons you should make milk bones! Wait a minute...that doesn't work. Oh, skip it. There's a brand new tennis ball with my name on it and I gotta go! Bye.

I've been in foster care for a whole week now and I'm starting to settle in. I came into RAGOM current on all my shots, spayed, and heartworm negative but I have a urinary tract infection for which I'm on antibiotics. I also have a torn cruciate ligament in my knee and I may or may not be a candidate for surgery. I have to have an x-ray to see how much arthritis has already set in. If I don't have surgery, I'll need to be on pain meds. If you meet me you'll know that I'm SOOOO worth it! Oh, I weigh 70 lbs too which the vet says is 10 pounds overweight. I've asked for a second opinion on that.

Foster Mom says I need to go to a family who's prepared to exercise me every day to get this excess weight off and keep it off. I can't be a runner because that's too hard on my knee. I pull on the leash (who doesn't?) but we haven't tried the Gentle Leader yet. I'm a very active girl and I like to prance while I play with my toys. I whip 'em around and then I throw them up in the air and then I chase them. I think I would like to play with the other dogs here but one of them doesn't know how to be a dog and the other one doesn't think she IS a dog. I also LOVE to lay at Foster Mom's feet. We're pals. Sometimes I come up behind her and stick my head between her knees Surprise! I'm not afraid of anything either including thunderstorms and fireworks and I don't get on the furniture. Whoa! Perfect dog, huh? Foster Mom says I'm a living doll and that I look like a deer - as long as I'm standing still. Apparently the image vanishes when I move. She said something about a lack of grace. That's a compliment, right?
