Bailey 09-400

Profile

We have the pleasure of fostering Bailey. He is purebred, neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. He is a nice reddish golden color with the longest fur I have ever seen. Surprisingly he does not shed very much. He was seen at the vet today and he is healthy and parasite free. Bailey's birthdate is 10-23-03. He will be 6 years old very soon. Bailey is a great dog. This is what we have learned about him in the last week:

  • loves to go for walks- he does pull some at first but does better after a few blocks
  • sleeps quietly in his crate (it's a cabana crate and he can see out on all sides)
  • gets along well with our 2 goldens- he even plays with them now
  • likes people of all ages- surrendering owner said young children make him nervous- when we had a group of 9 year olds over he did bark at them when he was in his kennel- he was fine when out of his kennel. He does great with our kids ages 13 & 9
  • barks when people come to the door or when he is very excited (getting ready for a walk or waiting for his food)
  • he will pick up shoes or clothes if left lying around but drops them as soon as you tell him to (he hasn't taken anything since the first day we got him)
  • knows basic commands- sit, stay, shake

Hi RAGOM,

Our sweet Bailey, 09-400, crossed the Rainbow Bridge in August. He would have turned 15 on 10-23-18. While we know that he had a long, happy life, it's hard to get used to no 5am wake up calls (with a slipper or tennis ball in his mouth) from our best buddy.

Bailey was the best dog we ever could have imagined. He had a sister dog, Ella, who will always have some anxiety challenges but Bailey's happy-go-lucky nature helped her overcome many of them. He was the perfect companion for her in addition to being the perfect companion to the human family members.

In his early years, he loved to play with Ella, go hiking, EAT, and destroy stuffed toys and cardboard boxes. In his senior years, he loved to cuddle, choose our walk routes (and would visibly pout by dragging behind if we didn't go the way he wanted...so we always gave in), EAT, and destroy stuffed toys and cardboard boxes. He was our sweet Velcro dog who followed us everywhere and brought us more love and laughter than seemed possible.

Thank you for picking us for him. We loved him dearly and will forever miss him.

Attached are a few pictures of our always happy guy.

From Bailey's forever family...

Hi everyone,

We just wanted to send a quick update on Bailey and thank all of the wonderful volunteers that helped with making Bailey a RAGOM dog and eventually placing him with us. An extra special thank you to Bailey’s foster family, of whom we know gave him lots of love and TLC while they had him.

We’ve had Bailey for almost a month now, but it feels like he’s always been “ours.” He now has a sister dog, Ella (who plays with him constantly!), and two cats, Abby and Max. They’re all buddies, and we remind ourselves all the time how lucky we are to have him.

Below are a couple of pictures. He’s a very happy boy!

Thank you again,

Anne & Andy
(Abby, Max, Ella, & Bailey, too!)
