Bailey (Quaid 04-356)

Profile

Oh, the wonders of a puppy! Quaid has arrived and settled in nicely. He is a 6 month old Golden mix (99% Golden, 1% something else) puppy, neutered and UTD on his shots. He is very blonde, with black eyes and black whiskers. He is on the small side, weighing in at a whopping 27 lbs. The vet thinks he should be about 30 lbs. right now, and doesn't think he will weigh even 40 lbs. when he is full grown - the perfect cuddling size! He is too adorable!

He was found as a stray, and after spending a couple of weeks at a shelter, he found his way to us. What a great first foster experience for us to have. Whatever happened while he was a stray, no one knows, but he sure doesn't hold it against anything or anybody. He loves kids, adults, seniors, dogs, cats - pretty much he loves life. His tail wags constantly and he has not come in contact with anyone that hasn't said wonderful things about him. He is potty trained and has only had one accident, but that was my fault, not reading the "I've got to go NOW" signs he was giving me. We are working on the typical jumping up and chewing behaviors that a puppy does, but he seems very smart and is already getting it. If you're looking for a puppy with lots of love and fun to give, this might be your guy! We will get pictures taken and on the web site in the next few days.

Hello RAGOM,

I wish I were writing this email under different circumstances.  I’m writing to let you know our sweet Bailey Boy (Quaid 04-356) has moved on to the Rainbow Bridge.  On September 25th he went in for surgery for a fast growing tumor on his back just above his left hip.  We knew this was cancer going into the surgery, but we were hopeful the tumor could be removed.  After a couple issues with the sutures popping open, we finally got his incision to stay closed.  Unfortunately, almost a week after thinking we FINALLY were on the road to recovery, Bailey started limping.  Within a 12 hour period, Bailey would lose all control of his back legs and needed to be carried.  We brought him to the vet and we found out the cancer we thought had been removed, had aggressively spread to his bones, nervous system and lungs. His back legs would not function, but he could still give a small tail wag when we were near.

We decided to take him home for the night, and make him as comfortable as possible.  He was spoiled with any fun food we could find – pulled pork, hot dogs, cheese, hamburgers, chicken.  We stayed by his side all night, and the next morning, October 10th, we had MN Pets come to the house to administer the medications to help him pass.  It was a very quiet, calm passing.  I know he is now across the rainbow bridge chasing all the squirrels and rabbits he can find. I miss him like crazy every day - the house is a little too quiet and little less crowded.  I miss my little fur ball cuddling up in my bed in the morning before work, the happy greetings when I got home, and the snuggles on the couch all evening.  He was an amazing dog and loved by all that knew him.  Furbrother Guinness (Eddie 04-097) was able to say his goodbyes, too.  He seems a little lost without his little brother snuggled next to him.  I know he misses him, too.

Thank you RAGOM for bringing this sweet little boy to our lives.

Sincerely,

Cathy and Todd M

Happy St. Paddy's Day from The Boys!

Wednesday, February 2, 2005

Hello there!

I just wanted to send an update on our two boys. Guinness (Eddie 04-097) and Bailey (Quaid 04-356) are doing great! They love spending time with each other, and go to Doggy Daycare 4 times a week (and come home DOG tired!). They made it through Christmas just fine, and Bailey was happy to help Guinness celebrate his 1st Birthday on January 16th. They got lovely dog food birthday cakes, decorated with yogurt and peanut butter – YUM!

I’m hoping to get Bailey involved with visits to nursing homes and hospitals. He’s such a gentle boy who loves everyone. Guinness, however, doesn’t seem to know his own strength, and is a bit wary of strangers until he gets to know them. He does love the crew at Dog Day Getaway, though!

Thank you again, RAGOM, for allowing us to bring these two wonderful boys into our lives.

Regards,

Cathy, Todd, Guinness and Bailey
