We are excited for you all to meet Bear.  Despite his name, he really is not a "bear" - he is tall but weighs only 76 lbs, which is perfect for him.  He saw the vet on Monday and is now up-to-date on all his shots and is a very healthy 4-year old boy.  Everyone at the vet's fell in love with him, which is not hard to do since he is one of the most lovable, well-adjusted dogs we have fostered.  Bear come to RAGOM from a family that was going through some major family changes and they had to make the difficult decision  to let him go.  I promised them I'd find him a perfect new family and after being with him for a few days, I don't think he will last long on the "available dog" list.  He is just so perfect!  Okay, he does have one issue that we have been working on - he is a major counter surfer.  Before we realized this, he managed to consume almost two whole loafs of bread that were left on the counter!  The good news is that is so eager to please, he responds to "no" and we think we almost have this habit licked (but until we're sure, nothing is left on the counters, even pushed way back). 

We have learned a lot about Bear in the last few days - he loves, loves, loves people of all ages and will show that by giving constant kisses; he loves to be petted; he is great in his kennel (because of his counter surfing, he doesn't yet have free roam when he is left alone); he is just an all around happy guy.  I do feel sorry for him, because he really wants to play with our two resident goldens, but they have kind of shunned him because he tends to jump on them a lot when he wants to play (he does not jump on people) and neither of them are real happy about that.  I am not sure if he didn't play a lot with other dogs or not, but he seems to need to learn how to play without jumping on top of other dogs.  We are working on this. 

Overall, I think Bear would do well in almost any type of home.  He is remarkably adaptable.  For him, I would like to see him with a family with kids, other pets are not needed, but he'd do fine, and a fenced in yard (he loves to run).

Our sweet, sweet Bear crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 20, 2018.  He had been diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis and in the process found a tumor.  We thought Bear would be with us longer, but that was not to be.  We had made his birthday September 24, we believe he would have been 13.

Bear was amazing from the moment we met him at a meet and greet.  He looked at me, leaned into me, and that's all it took. We had recently lost our Sheltie and Bear came to be a brother to our resident lab retriever.

Bear had so many antics, loved being cuddled and although he was big, 95 pounds, he could sneak up on the bed at nite and we never knew.

He was a counter surfer and managed several trips to the vet after ingesting something.  My kitchen counters will always be bare in Bear's memory.

He loved to play tug, chase his tail, be chased and just bask in the Golden life.  We lost our Brandy in April. We lost him way too soon and miss him so much.
