Bo 12-065

Profile

Introducing Bo! Bo is an extremely handsome 7 (ish) year old neutered male Golden Retriever (with maybe just a dash of something else?). Bo has a stunning blond coat and a face to melt any heart. His personality can be described as SWEET, loving, "I'll do anything for you", happy, Golden Retriever goodness! :) Bo was lovingly surrendered to RAGOM because his owner could no longer give Bo the care he deserved. It is clear that this adorable boy was loved, and we thank his surrendering owner for doing what was best, and promise to find Bo the perfect forever home.

Bo came to us on Friday morning (Thanks, Rhonda! for meeting us half way!) I pretty much was done for when I saw his frosted white face... He jumped in the back of my SUV and rode happily for about an hour back to his foster home. Along the way, it became clear a bath was in order. So, we made a quick stop and got him looking and smelling like a new dog! Then, it was finally time to introduce Bo to his foster home (and the 3 dogs that come along with it!). He met our 2 goldens with tail wags and give our little yorkie a quick sniff and all was well. A perfect gentleman. He checked out the fenced in backyard and then came in and explored the house a bit... then it was time for a little nap :) He seems to love the dog beds that are scattered around our home and so far hasn't joined us on the couch, but will come up on the bed if invited, the sweet thing.

Bo has excellent manners and knows all the basic commands. He is house trained and can be left with free roam of the house when we are away with no issues. He takes treats so gently my 3 year old can give him one. Speaking of 3 year olds, he also is great with kids! He loves to go for walks and is active and agile for a so-called senior boy! Bo is a velcro boy and follows me from room to room, but isn't overly "needy", he just enjoys being next to his people which is just perfectly fine by me :) Yeah... this guy is the real deal!

We will be making that all important vet visit on Tuesday evening... he seems to be in great health, but has not had vet care in 4+ years so it will be important for him to be fully examined. He is overweight with probably about 10-15 pounds to lose. He was free fed previously and that has now changed! I suspect this change, along with regular exercise will melt the weight right off. He does have at least 3 lumps that I have found to have the vet check out, they are probably "fatty" type lumps that I lovingly call "old dog bump" which are very common as dogs age. However, we will check to get the expert opinion. We will also get him up to date on vaccines, run a heart worm test, and get a microchip!

Thanks for reading about Bo! Stay tuned! I will report more after his appointment on Tuesday. Welcome to RAGOM sweet boy!!!

Hi Everyone at RAGOM....

We just wanted to let you know that our beloved BoBo went over the Rainbow Bridge on Wed Dec 9 unexpectedly.... Our hearts are so empty without our boy....

He overcame separation anxiety and chasing our kitties thru the house and was the best dog... Always so loving, so very smart, a great conversationalist (woo-wo-wo-woo), cute BoBo style hugs and kisses. Just the sweetest, most kind gentleman you'll ever have met. His favorite things were hanging with his Lucy (his mini-schnauzer-they were inseparable), running free at any dog park, hiking, car rides, licking the spoon, hugs, lounging on the couch, and hanging out with his moms... Everyone who met him instantly fell in love with his kind soul... We were so lucky to have him in our lives for the past almost 4 years.... They were golden for us...

Sweet and beautiful Bo Bo met a wonderful couple and their dog Lucy last night. Today we received a call from them saying they would be honored to adopt Bo and love him forever.

After roughly 40 foster dogs Bo is one of our favorites. Easily a boy we could have adopted ourselves... it had to take the perfect family to come along, and I truly believe Kim and Sue are "IT" for our special boy. They are committed animal lovers and their home contains 3 kitty friends along with their sweet and silly schnauzer, Lucy! What fun for Bo!? :) The back of their SUV is dedicated to the dogs... dog beds and all :) and... they love to take walks and explore all our our beautiful parks. Perfect!

I know tears will follow him out of our door. Both kinds... the happy and the sad. Falling in love with these dogs is so easy, and letting them go is so hard. I must remind myself of a RAGOM motto: "Rescue, Rehome, REPEAT". And we will, in honor of Bo and all of the homeless dogs that we have helped and continue to help. Meeting these wonderful dogs and being a part of their journey leaves us feeling very blessed. Time to go and love Bo up so he can help prepare foster mom for the big day. I will update again when the adoption is final. Thank you for following Bo's adventure :)

Just a quick update on the fabulous Mr. Bo! He is just a dream foster dog and we are rapidly falling in love with him (there will be tears when this boy is adopted!), and it is very easy to see why :) Bo continues to do very well here in his foster home. He looooved the beautiful weather this weekend as it allowed for long and multiple walks! We have a pond nearby our house and we pass it on our walking path... Bo REALLY wanted to check that out yesterday, so I think we have a swimmer on our hands!

"The Golden Parade" (Bella, Gracie, and Bo)

The longer Bo has been with us the more I have realized what he would really like in his forever home. Something I had not previously mentioned was another dog or dogs.... I wasn't sure at first, but now I know that I would like him to go to a home with another fur butt (of the canine variety) in it! At his previous home he did live with another dog his whole life and he loves to wrestle and play with our dogs. Most importantly, last week there was a day when I had to take our dogs to the vet for their wellness exams and Bo stayed home. I came home to a very stressed doggie! This is something we have not seen AT ALL when he is home with our dogs and we are away. He needs a buddy :)

Bo is meeting a family on Wednesday that sounds like a great match for him! :) They are bringing their Golden girl along for the meet and greet and if all goes well Bo should be off to his forever family by the weekend. Paws crossed :)

Mr. Bo had his vet visit last night and charmed everyone he met! No surprise there :) He weighed in at 64 pounds... about 10 pounds too heavy for his small frame. The consensus at the vet is that Bo is mixed with an Australian Shepard... it is only a guess of course, but his smaller ears, fluffy coat, white markings on his chest and head make me a believer. Whatever he is... he is GORGEOUS! He has the most incredible thick, soft, wavy coat. Perfect for petting (which he looooves!).

Bo received his rabies, distemper, and bordatella vaccinations and was microchipped. His senior blood work looked great, he did have a slight elevations in one type of his white blood cells, but the doctor thought that was either due to parasitic infection or allergies (which we aren't seeing any signs of). We are deworming him as a precaution. His heartworm/tick borne disease test was negative, yay! The lumps that I mentioned in his first update the vet thought felt just like fatty tumors that are harmless. His adoptive family will just need to monitor them and note any major changes. He does have minor dental disease and could use his teeth cleaned in the next year or so... another thing his adoptive family should be aware of. All in all, he checked out GREAT!! A healthy, beautiful boy!! :) The main thing is his weight loss program... which we are already working on!

Bo loves to go for walks and is energetic and so much fun! He is our SHADOW and is always in the same room with us :) I would love to see him go to a home where his people were home most of the day with him... he really loves his peeps! As far as other things that Bo would like in his forever home a must is someone committed to getting him his daily exercise! Not only does he need to get down to a healthy weight, he really enjoys them :) He gets along great with dogs (and used to live with a cat) so he could live with other fur kids... or not. He's pretty much perfect!

Our handsome blondie will be out meeting and greeting his fans at the Bloomington Chuck and Don's event on Sunday! Please stop by and say Hi to Bo and all of the other WONDERFUL RAGOM fur kiddos! Hope to see you there :)
