Bogart/Midas 07-448

Profile

07/16/07 Today I picked Bogart up from the shelter.    He is sweet!  Bogart is a deep red, straight haired golden with big bones, and a nice blocky head.  He is thin but when filled out he should be in the 75 lb. range.  He immediately jumped into my car and into the crate.  I think he has done this before.  He also knows sit, shake and lie down.  He didn’t make a peep on the hour drive home.

It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that I let you know that my beautiful Midas passed today. The day I met him back in October of 2007 changed my life. Never have I felt such a connection, in an instant, our bond would be life changing.

On January 7th, I came home from work,  did the usual routine, let the boys (Midas and his brother, Max) out the patio door, which leads to the deck and the backyard. It had just snowed. Midas slipped, front legs went one way and his back legs, the other. I knew immediately that something went wrong. That was a Wednesday, by Sundaymorning he couldn't get up. So many visits to the vet, chiropractic, acupuncture, nothing was working. Ordered a K9 cart but to no avail. He was paralyzed from mid-back down, and lost all control of his bladder and bowel. He has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and there is no doubt that his sister Mackenzie was there to greet him, tail wagging!

He was the most beautiful boy, agile, strong, and so, SO loving. I thank God for every day He blessed me with him.

Thank you, RAGOM, for all you do.

Fondly, Midas' mom,

Brenda C.

Midas has arrived at his new fosterhome today in the midst of a big thunderstorm.  He is quite the very handsome young man and is getting along very well with foster sis Maren and bro Yosi.  He is also doing well with fellow foster Sandy 07-568 and the four Ragdoll cats!! He ate a good dinner and is very well behaved... He weighs 64 pounds or so and is a deep dark red color.  More as we get to know him!!

Midas has been very easy to assimilate into our home.  He is housetrained and kennel trained.  All we have to do is say kennel and he runs to his crate.  He is very quiet when confined in the crate. We did find out that if another dog is not with him in the fenced yard, and we are out of sight he will try to dig out.  He is a mover, and is in a constant trot mode with his nose to the ground.  He comes at a run when called and will come to a sit in front of you if asked.  I love his intense gaze into your eyes when he is being petted.  And he loves that!  If given the opportunity he will slither into your lap and lay there for as long as you pet him.  Ok, so I gave him that opportunity, but he is so sweet about it I couldn’t help myself.  He ignores our cats unless they run, then he gives chase.  But returns to you and leaves the cat alone if you call him.  He gets along with all dogs and people.  I think he could be an awesome obedience or agility dog, and therapy would be an option too.  He would make anyone a fantastic companion.  Please consider Midas for your family addition.
