Boo Boo 06-535

Profile

12/2/06: Boo Boo has arrived in St. Paul. He is GORGEOUS! He appears to be a purebred but I suspect he isn't because most of his tongue is black. He is about 10 months old. He is very blond, fully feathered and on the smaller side (hard to tell as he has a thick coat) but I'd be surprised if he weighs 60 pounds. He came on a transport with several other dogs today, and he was delivered to my front door this evening...so a quick trip through the house out into the back yard for proper introductions was necessary. He met my young guy with no problems (there never are) and he met my older guy in a submissive manner, so he passed the grouchy dog test. He and my young guy played until I got cold, then we all came in and are settling down. He is tethered to me as I don't have much bio on him but he's laying by my side 10 feet from the rabbit cage and he's definitely not obsessed with her...of course she's staying in her house tonight so we aren't going to test him. He hasn't met my cat yet...so we'll report on that meeting later. Tomorrow he will get a bath. He needs to be neutered but once that's done I would imagine he will be a quick placement and I will schedule a vet appointment early next week to get the process started.

Boo Boo has had a busy time and he hasn't even been here 24 hours yet. He is a wonderful dog; he plays great with my young guy. He slept quietly all night - he must have been tired out from all his car rides. We slept in a little this morning, got up around 8:30 and the day began. I called the vet to get an appointment and was lucky enough to get in today...so Boo Boo is now up-to-date on shots (he only needed one booster) and is microchipped. He had blood drawn for a heartworm test and had a tear on his ear that he came with checked out. He is on antibiotics so it doesn't get infected. He only weighed in at 47 pounds...I knew he was little (but he has a lot of hair). He will be neutered on Wednesday.

This afternoon he had a much needed bath. He was scared at first, but relaxed as he realized the warm water and scrubbing felt good. By the end I think he was actually enjoying himself. He did great in the back of my SUV on the way to the vet. I tethered him in the back but he just looked out the window and didn't even try to get over the baracade. He does stairs easily so he has definitely seen them before. He has met the cat, and he's been told his place....he is scared of her (all 10 pounds of her.) He also has decided to give my older guy a lot of space - in fact, Boo Boo totally stays away from him...all in all, Boo Boo isn't having such a great time in foster care....shots, baths, hissing cats, grouchy Goldens (don't tell him about Wednesday yet)...if you think you are the one that wants to rescue this great dog from his foster home, email placementatragom [dot] org.
