Cali (Trixie 05-302)

Profile

9-25-05 Introducing Trixie! Trixie was transported yesterday from a northern Minnesota animal hospital, where she had been staying for the past 62 days. She was abandoned at a local music festival this summer and never claimed by her owner. She was scheduled to be put to sleep (don’t tell her that) and that’s when RAGOM was asked if they could help.

Trixie is a Golden Retriever mix of some sort and is a very pretty light color. At this point, she has lots of very fluffy fur. She was shaved down when she arrived at the animal hospital so all her fur is in the process of growing back. She has the cutest ears as you can probably tell from the pictures! Trixie was a little shy at first, but warmed up quickly. She loves to be petted, but is not a Velcro dog. She knows some basic commands like sit and down. She hasn’t had any accidents in the house. She is a very mellow dog and seems to already appreciate the Golden life. So far, she has been a perfect foster!

Trixie is not crazy about our 1 year old Golden. He constantly bugs her to play and she nicely gives him a little growl. If he continues to annoy her, she tells him a little more forcefully to back off. She does like to play, just not with other dogs at this point. Therefore, I think she would do best as an only dog or in a home with other mellow dogs.

Trixie will be visiting the vet for a complete check-up as soon as we can get her in. Once we’re done with that, she will be ready for a forever home. If you are interested in meeting Trixie, please email Placement.

I wanted to write to tell you about our dog, Cali. We adopted her from RAGOM in Fall 2005, and her name was Trixie (#05-302).

Cali crossed Rainbow Bridge on February 13, 2013. It was one of the most painful decisions we had to make, but her pain and arthritis medications were not helping her anymore and she could no longer get up.

In the 7 1/2 years that she has been part of our family, she has been a constant companion and best friend. We will miss her this summer when we go up North to the cabin. She loved the fresh air, the sunshine and being outside. She especially loved winter and rolling in the snow.

The last few years have been tough watching her grow older, and I can only believe she is in a better place, pain free and chasing squirrels once again.

Sincerely,
Katie and Eric

Trixie (now known as Cali) was adopted today by Eric and Katie. I know Cali is so happy to have a forever home where she will be loved and pampered every day! Congratulations Cali, Eric and Katie!

Trixie just got back from her visit to the vet. She is now UTD on all shots, micro-chipped and thoroughly checked over. She is a very healthy dog. However, she does have a very slight heart murmur. At this time, her activity level does not need to be adjusted and no precautions need to be taken with her other than to have her heart checked at her vet exam every year.

We have enjoyed getting to know Trixie the past few days. She’s becoming more comfortable and is getting more playful. She continues to be a very gentle dog. She walks well on a leash, rides very well in the car, sleeps great at night and loves treats. We have been crating her at night and during the day. We have left her baby gated in the kitchen when we were gone for short periods of time without any problems. She has had only one accident in the house and that was because I wasn’t paying attention. Trixie likes our older kids and I think she would be fine with younger kids as well. She is an absolutely wonderful dog and would make a great addition to any home!
