Cammie has met the family of her dreams & will be going to her new home in 2 days. She will have a fur sister, 2 little girls & a mom & dad to call her very own. We are sooooo excited for Miss Cammie. She certainly hit the jackpot!

It's official...Cammie has been adopted by a wonderful family. She now has a mom & dad to call her own, 2 young girls that will love her to pieces & even a RAGOM fursister to play with. She even shares her birthday with her new dad...a definite match that was meant to be!!

Cammie is doing absolutely wonderful. Almost all of her itchiness is gone. She still has a few spots remaining, mostly on her legs, where a little bit of fur is missing & her skin is a bit discolored from all itching she had done. I asked the vet about this recently & he said it will take several weeks to go back to normal though. I am so happy that she feels so much better. I'm guessing she feels like a new dog too!
Cammie continues to get along great with everyone. We are also currently fostering Kyler 17-136 & Cammie absolutely adores him. I don't think it's a necessity to have another dog in the home but Cammie would certainly appreciate a furry friend to hang out with. She loves, loves, loves to play. And oh man, is she strong. We have a full house of animals & it's pretty frequent for a 3 way game of tug of war to break out....& Cammie always wins! I'm not sure if it's because of her brut strength, her tenacity or her good looks & sweet personality but the boys always let her end up with the toy. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Cammie has a mean bone in her body, but she is stubborn & likes to win. And did I mention how fast she is? We live out in the country & take the dogs out to play fetch in the field several times a day. Holy moly can she fly! She's not always the best at returning the ball tho so if I bring 2 balls with she will drop the first one as I throw the next. It's a great way to wear off some energy & they say a tired dog is a good dog!
Cammie continues to sleep in the kennel at night or when we leave the house during the day. She is as quiet as a church mouse when it's time for bed & sleeps throughout the night, but holy smokes when my alarm goes off it's time to go. There's no hitting the snooze button allowed. She is a wiggly butt & barker until I get the kennel door open & then first comes a dash to the water bowl & then a trip outside. She is a very well mannered young girl that would love a home with lots of activities & lots of play time too.

Cammie has been having a couple of fun filled weeks. We are currently fostering 2 golden mix puppies & Cammie is having a blast with them. Since we don't know her complete history I'm wondering if she maybe had puppies at one point. She makes a wonderful mama to the 2 little puppies. She has calmed down significantly since she came into our home & just adores the puppies. She loves to play with them, letting them crawl all over her & can often be found curled up with them while taking a siesta.

In other news I'm changing Cammies status to available. As it turns out it doesn't appear that Cammie has allergies afterall. We finally have a confirmed diagnosis...she has sarcoptic mange. While that in & of itself isn't the greatest thing at least now we know why she's so itchy & have an easy treatment (while not symptomatic we opted to treat all the animals in our house as well) On the last update I had noted that Cammie was given a dose of cytopoint & had gotten great relief. Unfortunately that only lasted about 3 weeks and she started itching constantly, and I mean constantly. I was giving her Benadryl for some relief until I could get her to the vet again. Once we got in she received another shot of cytopoint but got almost zero relief. The vet then did a skin scraping (which had previously tested negative) & this time found a mite. The good news is that Cammie was started again on steroids, although this time on a lower & shorter dose, to get some initial relief, & then also received a dose of Bravecto, which is essentially a pesticide that kills the mites. Fortunately for Cammie she didn't lose too much fur & her itching has decreased at least by 75-80%. As more mites continue to die off we are hoping her itching stops completely & what little fur she lost will grow back in. There is still a small chance that Cammie may have an underlying case of allergies or may develop them later, we are very thankful that she is finally feeling better. She is such a sweet girl & everyone that meets her just adores her.

Please welcome Cammie to RAGOM & to the USA. She is one of lastest group of dogs that RAGOM has rescued from Turkey. She had been an overcrowded shelter & was minutes away from being discarded in the forest. It really took a village to bring her to us & we couldn't be happier that we get to foster her.
Cammie is about a year old. She is on the petite side, weighing in at 53 lbs, but able to walk completely under the bellies of 2 of our male Goldens. She is also a lighter blonde golden color, not the white that some of the Turkey dogs are. Let me tell you though what she lacks in stature she makes up for in spunk. This little girl is a dynamo....when she plays, she plays hard & doesn't like to stop. I don't think I've ever met a dog that is quite obsessed with balls as she is. For example she could be in what looks like a deep sleep but if one of our other dogs drops a ball she comes flying at full speed for a game of fetch. Cammie is an energizer bunny when it comes to playing but calms very nicely & is well mannered in the house.
Cammie is spayed & up to date on all her vaccines, is microchipped, & was negative for heart worm & fecal. Her only health issue is that she came to us with allergies. When she arrived here she itched like crazy. After her vet visit it was determined that she had a skin infection due to the allergies so we started her on prednisone, an oral antibiotic & ear drops & changed her to a grain free diet. While that helped initially, as the prednisone was tapered off her itchiness returned. The poor girl scratched herself raw on her legs & ears, so back to the vet we went. This time she got a shot of Cytopoint, which is a newer medication that can be given along with other antihistamines for allergy relief. Within 24 hours her itchiness has stopped & she's back to her adorable self. The shot can be repeated every 4 to 6 weeks as needed, but we're keeping fingers crossed in that department.
We have 4 male Goldens & 3 cats in our household & Cammie gets along with all of them very well. One of our dogs is older & rather grumpy, of which Cammie is very respectful. She is well mannered with her only real "flaw" being that cat food apparently is very tempting & on occasion she has a hard time resisting the urge to counter surf for that...she leaves everything else alone though, go figure! When she first arrived it was very clear that potty trained was not something she could add to her resume. Since then, she's almost got it. Her signals are very subtle as to when she wants to go outside & if you miss it then its accident time. I'd say she's about 90% there.
While we've been getting to know Cammie this is what she's looking for in forever home...
Fenced yard...nice to have but optional, Cammie has very good recall.
Kids...over the age of 5, Cammie barrels around while playing chase & if she knocks over a little one they will go flying. Otherwise she is very gentle.
Cats....gets along great with them
Other dogs...again, would be nice but not absolutely necessary. She loves, loves, loves to play & would love another younger, playful dog as a playmate
Cammie also needs someone committed to helping with her allergies. It's uncertain if her allergies were initially to something in Turkey & once she stops itching that they will stay away...doubtful, but possible. More than likely it will be an ongoing issue for her, as it is for many Goldens.
