Charleston, also known as Charlie, was surrendered to RAGOM when his first family decided they just didn’t have enough time to spend with this sweet boy. Charlie found a great new home and is truly loved, but he will need to find a new family to call his own. It seems Charlie has one small, workable issue … he likes to bark.

Charlie is an energetic 18-month-old Goldendoodle. He has lots of puppy energy and it takes lots of exercise and playtime to keep his body and mind in shape. When Charlie is bored, he often finds things to keep himself entertained, such as socks, pens, and other assorted human items. Charlie loves to be with his humans, whether it is going for a walk or lounging on the couch. He loves his walks and can easily walk several miles without ever getting tired. Charlie has passed 2 levels of puppy training; when he is motivated by treats, he can perform a lot of commands such as "sit," "stay," "down," "shake," and "wait." The last one is a crowd pleaser. Place a treat on Charlie’s paw and give him the "wait" command and it is amazing how long he can hold it. His trainer was very impressed and felt that he has lots of potential. With ongoing training, he will grow into a very well-mannered young man and who knows what else he could learn. Charlie is a big boy, weighing in at 70 pounds. I don’t think he knows how big he is. Charlie is neutered, up-to-date on his shots, heartworm negative, and house-trained. He is kept in his kennel when the family is away for the day, but otherwise has free roam of the house.

Charlie will need a new family dedicated to giving him the exercise he needs and working with his barking. Because Charlie has so much energy to burn, it would be best if he has a fenced-in yard. If he is left on a tie-out, he will bark continuously. Charlie is great with other dogs, so he would really enjoy having another dog in the house to play with and it would help keep him busy, too. Because Charlie is a big boy and his energy level is similar to a young puppy, he should go to a home with older children or young children who don’t mind getting knocked over when he plays hard.

Good things come to those who wait, and that was definitely the case for Charleston. He has two wonderful parents and is going to love his forever home. We already miss his goofy face! Happy trails, Charlie!

Happy fall, Charlie fans! I decided to take a break from rolling around in the leaves and dirt to give you all an update on life in Sioux Falls. I am still looking for a forever home to call my own. I have been on my very best behavior the past couple of weeks. I even let FM dress me up in a fancy blue suit for Halloween. As far as other good behaviors go, my barking is pretty minimal. I really only bark when I get excited or need to go out. My leash skills are getting better, but I need someone committed to working with me. I do have a lot of puppy energy even though I am almost 2. I like to burn off this energy with running and playing. I also like a good mental workout with training as well.

I also love snuggling into FM and FD on the couch and bed...sometimes they even joke that I am a 70-pound lap dog. I am hoping that my forever family will snatch me up for the holidays...I hear you get lots of presents and treats around that time...

Hey there, Charlie fans. Sorry for being MIA for the past couple of weeks. We have been busy...One weekend, I got to meet some new friends at a college baseball game. I was a real hit!! (Pun intended.) This last weekend, I got to stay home while foster brother Clarence went to the grandparent's farm. I think I got the better end of the deal; I had friends come over all weekend and play. I got so much attention it was awesome.

As for my day-to-day, it's been awesome. Clarence and I love to run and play with each other. I also go for at least one daily walk. Foster mom tells me I can't graduate from my Gentle Leader until I learn to not lunge for squirrels and rabbits. I can't say that will happen anytime soon. I have gotten pretty comfortable here. Sometimes I try to sneak into the garbage for tasty treats, but apparently that is frowned upon. Mom and dad joke that they know I am tired when I start being mischievous...whatever that means. Maybe I will become more mature when I turn two. Hopefully, my forever family will have me by then so they can see just how good I can be! If you're interested in learning more about me, contact your placement advisor today!

Don't mind me...just writing my own updates. Typing with paws is ruff.

Hey, everyone. Charlie here. FM and FD are at work and they left their laptop out in the open…silly humans.

The past few days have been eventful. I went to a meet-and-greet in Sioux Falls and had a blast. I made so many new friends, both human and of the fur variety. Some people said they even came to see me. I tried to play it cool, though. FM was proud to show me off and make me do some of my tricks. After the meet-and-greet, I got to go see FD at a soccer tournament at the biggest park ever. His team loved me. It was awesome. I may replace my foster brother as team mascot.

Today was the best. I had a spa treatment from some wonderful people at Wags n' Whiskers. They made sure I was comfortable even though I was a bit scared at first. They said I did a great job…and so did they. I look amazing!

Thank you to Michelle H., although I don't have the Southern charm that goes with the name! Also, to my secret admirer Ellie, Doodles rule. My foster brother Clarence and I often get referred to as double Doodle danger dudes.

I got my own birthday cake for Clarence's birthday!

I am hoping that my new style catches the eye of my forever family. Contact your placement advisor before my hair grows out again! :) Until then, I will keep waiting by the window until my new family comes to meet me.

Just waiting for my forever family in my favorite spot.

Charlie is back in RAGOM looking for his Furever home. Unfortunately, he and his adopted fur sister couldn't quite get along. Charlie is incredibly smart, sweet, and trainable. However, he does need training on appropriate sharing, play, and eating. Charlie has displayed some resource guarding with his foster brother when it comes to special treats and food, but as long as they are given separately and safely, they get along great. Charlie does love to play, but due to his size and style of play, it comes off a bit rowdier. Charlie is a very sociable dog and loves playing with his foster brother, but he would thrive by being the single dog in his new family. Charlie is great with kids and adults. He is always eager to meet new people and make friends.

Of all the dogs I have ever encountered, Charlie is easily the most trainable. He has learned numerous commands, tricks such as his infamous wait trick while waiting with a treat on his paw. He is a great jogger on his Easy Walk harness and can easily complete 4-5 miles in easy comfort and a good pace. When we go for walks, he does pull a bit on the Easy Walk harness, but does great on a Gentle Leader. Charlie is so fun to watch in the yard. He is so long and lanky, he looks like Snuffalufagus when he runs. Charlie would fit in best with an active family.

We know that Charlie is going to make a family extremely happy. He is a loving, intelligent, and cuddly guy (even if he is a sofa/bed hog). His favorite spot is on the couch next to the picture window so he can keep an eye on the neighborhood.

Hi, Charlie here! Things have been busy here since the last time I checked in.

First off, I had a visit with the vet. She called me long, lean, and very handsome. She also said I had beautiful eyes. Not too bad for a first meeting.

Second, we spent some time at a friend’s cabin. There I went for my very first swim in the lake. I did not care for it so much, but I like being able to walk into the water and explore.

I enjoy being outside, whether I am exploring or just lying down and taking in the sights. I walk nicely on a Gentle Leader and like meeting new people and dogs.

I look forward to finding my new furever family. I have lots of love to share.
