Over the weekend, Chaucer had a play date with another Golden that went fantastic! Chaucer barked at her initially, sniffed her, and then the two walked together for over 3 miles.

Chaucer has also been making great progress with barking at other dogs out on walks. He now ignores about half the dogs he sees. With the other half - I have him sit, I say "leave it" while gently putting my hand over his nose. He will wiggle his butt and whine a little while watching the other dog go by. Then he gets the treat. I think Chaucer just needs some etiquette training when it comes to meeting other dogs.
Other than that, he has an amazing demeanor. You can grab his ears, nose, tail, paws, give him hugs and kisses, flip him over - he just soaks it all up. Nothing seems to bother him. He does great with kids we meet out on walks. He sees it as a prime opportunity to get some belly rubs.
He has discovered the joy of sleeping with his belly up, a luxury he probably didn't have while fending for himself in Istanbul. He also loves his stuffed animal.
