Hello, foster mom here. I wanted to share with everyone things I have learned this week about Cherry. First, Cherry did get her fractured, infected tooth extracted. Currently she is on an antibiotic and pain pills, but she is doing very well and they do not foresee any future problems.
Cherry definitely does not like to be left alone for long. She does exhibit signs of anxiety. Her future home will need someone who is home more often then not. Cherry also does not like a crate. This causes more anxiety for her so putting Cherry in a crate is not recommended. She does fine with free roam and will respect baby gates. Cherry is completely housebroken and will come up to you and whine when she needs to go outside. Her tennis ball continues to be her favorite thing, but she will growl if our resident dog gets too close when she has it. Our resident dog, a corgi, respects this. I don't have young children in my home, but I would be cautious with her being around younger children with their toys. Older children would be the best fit for her.
Cherry does get along with bigger dogs as well. My daughter brought her golden retriever and golden doodle over to play. I did pick up all the toys and balls before they arrived to avoid any conflicts so I am still unsure how she would do with a dog that would try to take a toy/ball from her. We will have to give it some more time and keep working on that. She had a great time running around the pasture with them. After they left she continued to look for them and whined for awhile. I believe she finds comfort in another dog. When we have to leave she will go lay by our resident dog Husker. Having another dog in the home is required..
A quieter household would be ideal for Cherry. She does bark when she hears a noise, if someone comes in the door and lots of noise causes her to pace and pant. Cherry likes to sit at the end of my recliner and watch out the window. She will either sleep in her dog bed in my bedroom and at times she will get on the bed. She does jump up and get really excited when we arrive home. She just wants you near all the time and LOVES attention and will sit by you to let you pet her but she does not cuddle.

Hello My name is Cherry. I am a dark red 4 year old PB golden retriever. I am up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and went to the vet and got an almost clean bill of health. I do have an infected, fractured tooth that I will be having fixed but it doesn't cause me any trouble. I eat great twice a day. I love playing with tennis balls. I am working on giving it to you so you can throw it again. I listen well, I don't get on furniture except the bed. I know basic commands and foster mom says I am a very good girl. I have been around cats, big dogs and small dogs. I am vocal when I am trying to play and will growl, but I am not trying to be mean, I am just excited. I will jump when I first see you so I might knock young children down and I also don't want to give up a toy once I have it so sharing with young children is something I would need to learn.
I love to run out in the fenced pasture here and I get the zoomies and FM says I am so fast! I would enjoy a dog brother or sister to play with but I could be the only dog too as long as you were home a lot and had time to give me the attention I crave. I enjoy sitting by you and will let you pet me all day if you want. I was said to have signs of separation anxiety in my previous home and here I will pant but eventually will make myself comfortable and take a nap.
FM says she is still learning things about me but she thinks I will make a family very lucky. Could that family be yours?
