Hello. Introducing Chica 13-383, an 11-year-old Female Golden Retriever fostered in Saint Paul, MN.

She had her first & second vet visit this past week for microchip, Wellness Exam, CBC, Chem panel, fecal testing; all has come back good/negative. Having much redness in both eyes, these were tested, and the results were good. The vet mentioned that with senior dogs, the eyes may not have as much lubricant/eye tearing. Prescribed saline eye drops to soothe the eyes (which may just be a temporary need). Still awaiting the records from her previous vet to see what outstanding vaccinations she may require.

She is housebroken, knows some commands, and takes treats very gently.

At her previous home, it was stated that she spent much of her day outside on a tie-out and did fine. Chica loves to be outside and with this beautiful weather this past week, she spent time in my fenced yard and did great. She comes in good and even lets me wipe her paws. :)

Chica will do well as an only dog or with another submissive dog. She gets along fine with my male GR, Comet (11-293), and they have stretches of time in the backyard together, sometimes with Comet leading Chica by her RAGOM lead. It is a funny sight to see. :)

There is more time that needs to evolve for Chica and my resident female (Chesapeake Retriever mix) Windy. There have been moments of growling and fighting, and I am keeping them separated while in the house and only let them outside together while in my supervision. They do well on walks together!

She does okay with children and with other adults.

Chica is new to walking on a Gentle Leader, which I always use for my pups when we go for walks.

She does well with rides in the vehicle, jumps in the back cargo area with no hesitation.

She does well in her kennel when I am away from home for work (8-9 hours), running errands, and for bedtime.

I have not yet cat tested her.

Only having had Chica 7 days, it makes my heart smile when I see how quickly she is bonding and is a "joy" to have as a foster.

Hi everyone, my name is Chica!

I'm a purebread Golden Girl with a curly coat. My Foster Mom (FM) says I'm beautiful. I don't really know what that means.

I am 11 years old, but don't act my age. I love to be outside. LOVE it outside! I play in this big fenced-in yard for so long that my FM has to come find me in my favorite spot! I hang out behind the shed and watch the big handsome Golden next door; his name is MOTO. He is sure cute! And lately, I found a new fun thing to do. I saw this rabbit back there, and I CAUGHT it! It was when the weather was really cold and I had to potty at 2:30 a.m....which I have NEVER had to do before, so I let my FM know and she let me out. I didn't come back for a long time. It took me a while to get that big old rabbit dead! FM didn't know that I was providing for her, so she was a bit upset that she had to come find me in her pajamas when it was -30° windchill. Daylight came, though, and she got to see what I had been up to. Then she was very proud; she said those things kill her garden. Wonder what a garden is...

I chase my FM in the yard when she comes to get me, and we race back to the house. I'm always the winner!

I am the tallest dog my FM and FD have had so far. I'm very lean; with these long graceful legs, I remind them of a deer or a pony. Wonder if they're like rabbits...I really like rabbits!

I met the grandkids and really liked them, although the smaller ones wanted to hug me a lot and it made me a bit nervous.

We don't have any other animals in the house. There is a Doberman puppy (but a big boy!) living in the apartment above our garage, and he and I got off on the wrong paw. He thought I was their LAST foster, and he jumped on me and wanted to play. Well, I let him know as I pinned him to the ground and he was crying UNCLE that I am in charge here and he probably won't forget it. But now I see him playing on the other side of the fence, and I wag my tail and peek my nose through and smile at him. We could MAYBE be friends, but it will have to be a gradual thing. For now, I'm loving being the only pet these people have, and they seem to love me a lot too!

Well, look for the continuing story of me. When I have time, I'll try to write more. If I catch another rabbit, I'll be sure to let you know! I'm looking for a fur-ever home, you see, and I think I could find and kill those critters at YOUR house too. Are you the one who needs me? I'm waiting for you!

Chica continues to uncover her beautiful Golden personality. She is prancing and bouncing around when excited, so fun to see!

Still awaiting the records from her previous vet to see what outstanding vaccinations she may require, though we have confirmed that she is UTD on rabies.

Chica is a grand, Golden houseguest!! She does not counter surf nor get into anything she should not. First and foremost, she wants to be with her people, and loves to follow FM around the home and be where the pack is currently hanging out. The only consideration is that she does challenge another dog that has a dominant personality. In my home, my resident female, Windy, is the challenge and I must keep them separated, though this could work itself out over time, as I've seen positive progress in just the two weeks I've been fostering sweet Chica.

Chica loves to go for walks and does well with my pack. She so loves being outside, but with this cold blast we received, does not want to stay out too, just enough to smell scents from the neighborhood bunnies, do her business, and then she is waiting at the back door to come in.

She has met the resident cats (15 years & 13 years) and though quite curious. does not seem to want to chase or harm.

She is only good and will make an excellent Furr-companion. Please consider adding Chica to your family; you will not be disappointed.
