On Feb 19, 2011, Coach came into RAGOM.  After a transport of nearly 9 hours, this lovable, hug-able dog became my newest best friend and foster.  Until a wonderful GS took him in, he had no home, no food, except what he could pick up along the way, for over 3 months.  Coach is a survivor!  His fur was matted with things that smelled really bad, but after several baths and brushing after brushing, a Golden prince emerged.

Coach is about 10, neutered, wormed, up-to-date on vaccinations.  As a protective foster, I was a bit hesitant introducing him to the resident male...the resident girls accept without question.  The boys tried to ignore each other for about, oh maybe, 5 minutes.  They sleep together, as seen in the picture, walk side by side on leash, chase each other and live in complete harmony. Has free roam, and is house-trained.

Somewhere in his past, Coach was loved, trained with a gentle hand, and introduced to everyone and everything with kindness.  He is a joy to walk, a joy to feed, a joy to cuddle with, a joy for dogs, cats and humans to meet, and a joy to foster.  The first night he slept in a crate.  Like a clock, every 2 hours he wanted to go outside.  He needed reassurance that he had a home.  The crate was put away and now he sleeps all night.  He does have a few quirks...like sleeping on his back.  If one of the residents comes near his food, he backs up, sits and waits.  Let's add patience to his description.

Once his bio goes public, Coach will be in GReat demand.

It is with much sadness that I am writing you to let you know that Coach (11-056) crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Dec 1st of 2015. We adopted him in April of 2011 at the age of 11, and so we were delighted to have 4 plus years of love from this guy. He was an awesome dog, and we are so thankful to RAGOM for the work they do in rescuing and re-homing these wonderful dogs.

Coach was a typical Golden, loving, loyal, friendly and handsome. He loved his people and loved to be where they were. After his second round with Vestibular Disease, we thought we would lose him, but he recovered enough to enjoy 11 more months of life before he was ready to let go. We figure he was around 15 or so when he passed… I miss him every day.

Hello,

I just wanted to send in an update on Coach (11-056).  He joined our family about 2 months ago and has had a smile on his face ever since!  Coach is simply a joy.  He is just what we were looking for, a gentleman, a snuggler, a good walker and just a pleasure to be around.  He loves to be around his people, and follows us around where ever we are.  He has total free roam and has had nary an incident.  He is, what I call, "opportunistic", so we have learned to keep the garbage can up, and the bread drawer closed!  I show him a lot of grace, I figure he had to fight for food for so long, that that habit might be hard to break. I can't thank RAGOM enough for taking these "cast-offs" in.  You took him in, cleaned him, fed him, loved him and made him ready for us.  He has brought so much joy into this house.

Thank you.

I have attached a few photos for you to see.

Coach here. FM seems a little down today and I don't think that she knows that I know why. A real family was to meet me but at the last minute, they felt that this was not a good time.

Oh, ya, I could be sad too, but I know that there is a family that wants to let me take care of them. After all, I do nothing to make humans, cats, dogs (little and big), vets (I am SURE they must be human), rabbits, squirrels, not LOVE, and I mean LOVE me.

FM told me that I have an irresistible face. Pretty big word for cute!& A few nights ago, FM had friends over to watch Secretariat. The little people were laying on the floor, so I crawled in between them...just to keep them warm, of course.

When I was a young pup, I was taught to walk up to humans, sit down and wait for attention, preferably a scratch on the head. This works for me and who wouldn't want to scratch a head like mine!?

FM promised a long walk, so I better go get my leash, just to remind her that promises are never to be broken.

Oh, and I hope you like the picture. Please call RAGOM placement sometime!

Coach is developing into a GReat, well-mannered, well-behaved friend.  He remains the velcro dog, which is heart-warming.  His tail twists him around so his furr-ever home will need to put objects above tail level.  Coach has passed every test!  Good with children?  Yes, he sits down so as to be eye level and waits for kisses.  Come when called?  Yes, which is surprising since Coach is his new name.  Sits, stays on command?  Yes, only has to be asked once.  House trained?  Absolutely.  Quiet?  Yes, in 3 weeks he has barked once or twice while playing outside with resident Goldens.  Guard food, toys or bones?  Nope, he shares everything and anything, including FM.  Free roam?  Yes, since day two in foster care.

Mr. Coach has some quirks.  Before bed, all bones are put into the bone basket.  Coach will remove one, then another, then another, until the bones appear more accesible to him. After completing that daunting task, he rounds up the toys and places them on his bed.  He is NOT a hoarder, but rather a protector.

A prospective family will be meeting Coach this week-end.  Little do they know, he is prepared to steal their hearts. His eyes tell a story.  A story of love, kindness, survival, and trust.  This is one very special Golden, who wants to cuddle with his people and make life more enjoyable for them...and if you are wondering, yes, my heart will ache when he is adopted.  His love will stay in my heart.
