Gus and his littermate Rusty14-257 are 8-week-old PB male Golden Retriever puppies. They came with 3 other pups from a breeder is South Dakota. Gus is neutered, current on vaccines and preventatives, and he has been wormed. He is a healthy, happy puppy.

Gus here! Boy oh boy I’m having the best time here! I’m learning lots of big boy things like how to go potty outside, and my FM is starting to teach us to “sit” for a treat, and how to chase after a ball and bring it back to her. I couldn’t get my mouth around the ball when I first got here but now I can, and sometimes I even beat my brother and am the first to get it!

My brother is my best friend and I love to play with him. We chase each other around and wrestle, but mostly I follow him around. He is always finding something fun to get into, and I can barely keep up with him. I found something fun all on my own today—a dead frog! FM wouldn’t let me eat it though. I love to chew just about everything—the handle on the lawn chair when we are playing outside, sticks, FM’s shoelaces, and she has lots of stuffed toys and bones to keep us busy. If I am chewing on something naughty she sticks something else in front of me and I just start chewing on that. FM says I’m a REALLY mellow, laid back puppy.

If you have lots of time to work with me, I will be your best friend. I’m very lovey and can’t wait to find my very own forever home. Let your placement person know if you think I am the one and only for you!

Gus had a fantastic week, but probably what made it extra special is his new family came home early from their vacation to get him! Here are some of the highlights from his last week:

Chilling out with his buddy Tigger the cat.

Eating his first ice cream cone. Gus caught on really quickly –he licked it about 10 times and then cut to the chase and took a big bite off the top.  Licking the ice cream off each other afterward.

He is getting to know his new mom and dad, and two 4 legged siblings. We wish you all the very, very best!

Gus continues to melt my heart every time I look at him. What a little cutie. He is becoming a little more “out there,” well as out there as this gentle soul will get! He is the calmest puppy I have ever seen and nothing seems to rattle him.

I kept wondering why their water dish was going down so quickly, and then I caught him red handed—standing with his two front paws in the bowl! I took this as a hint and pulled out a small kiddy pool and put just a couple of inches of water in it. He LOVED playing in the water, and when he finally jumped out he did zoomies around the yard he was so happy.  He is busy exploring all his senses. This morning when I took the pups out to go potty, when he came back to me he had something in his mouth. I thought to myself I can’t wait to see what this is—he was bringing me the head of another dead frog that he found.  I guess he’s honing his retriever instincts! Speaking of which, he is getting to be quite the ball retriever and will not only go after a ball but now brings it back to me. He and his brother Rusty often wrestle over who gets to bring the ball back. When Gus has it he tucks his head down and plows straight ahead. Rusty looks like he is taking down a tackle who somehow ended up with the football.

Gus has some really good news—he found his forever family!!! His new family went on a trip that they had planned for a long time, so I get to keep him for a couple more weeks until they get back. Here are some pictures of little cutie pie Gus.
