Meet Cooper.
Cooper is a 6 ½- year- old male, PB Golden Retriever, who came from a very caring and loving home in Iowa. His SO originally rescued him from a rescue located in Texas when he was just over a year old. Unfortunately, Cooper’s SO has developed some health issues that prevent having all of Cooper’s needs met. Wanting only the best for Cooper, his SO made the difficult decision to surrender Cooper to RAGOM.
Cooper was a very pampered pooch, his SO had him groomed on a regular basis and kept his pearly whites clean by doing regular dental cleanings. Cooper is neutered, up to date on all of his vaccines and is on Vectra 3D and Heartgaurd Plus preventatives. According to the vet, Cooper is a very handsome and healthy boy, however the vet did mention that he could afford to lose a few pounds. He currently weighs 84 lbs. Losing some extra pounds will not be a difficult task for Cooper, because he absolutely LOVES to go for walks and explore the neighborhood. He is great on a leash and is getting used to the Gentle Leader. The only time he likes to pull is when a rabbit or another dog is in the vicinity. We are working on this, by directly his attention elsewhere and using the “leave it” command or a treat. He has really done well with this so far. Cooper’s personality is very laid-back, he enjoys to lay by your feet, will encourage a good booty scratch and will never object a tummy rub. He is very well mannered and knows a variety of tricks. He will sit, stay, and shake on command and of course loves to be rewarded with a treat when he performs well. Cooper does well in a crate at night and while FM is not home.
Cooper’s needs in his future forever home:
• A fence would not be a requirement, but I think he would greatly appreciate being able to retire the leash and have somewhere he can run like the wind, play Frisbee and retrieve a tennis ball.
• Cooper could live in a home with or without another dog(s)
• His tolerance of cats is still somewhat unknown, his only prior interaction with a cat was at the groomer. (SO said he did not mind the cat.)
• Cooper has a lot of love to give, but because of his size I think he would fit perfectly into a family that has older children.
• He will also need someone to keep up his exercise routine in order to keep him mentally and physically healthy.
Cooper is a wonderful, lovable dog who is just waiting to continue to share his unconditional love.
