Cooper 16-173 is a wonderful 16-week-old purebred male Golden Retriever that has been in our home for about a week! Cooper was lovingly surrendered back to RAGOM after his adoptive family realized a puppy is just not for them (puppies are not for everyone). They knew that Cooper needed a more puppy-friendly home and more activity than they were able to provide. Cooper is up to date on all of his shots, has had Heartgard and Frontline, and is neutered. So far, Cooper has not had any accidents in the house, and he will go to the door and wait for you to take him outside. He loves his crate and will not bark in there unless he can see you; then he might make little whimpers, but it does not last long. He sleeps through the night and eats two times a day! He gets along very well with our two small dogs. He knows "sit" and "down." He is still learning “leave it," "gentle," and "no.” Cooper is an eager-to-learn puppy who LOVES toys and to bring each one out to play with every day!

Sonny (Cooper 16-173) has found his forever home in Sioux Falls, SD. He is being loved by a family with two kiddos and a nice, big, fenced-in backyard!! We will miss giving him baths, watching movies with him, playing with him, and we will just miss him all around!! His new family is excited beyond words and we are so happy that he is in such a loving home.

It has been a little while since our last update, so this one is full of information!

Cooper is truly the best puppy around. He is good around kids of any age. Good with dogs of any age. Still unknown of cats, but given his temperament - I can't imagine he would have a problem with them.

He has been working on retrieving a dummy and will typically bring it back to us, but sometimes gets sidetracked as puppies do! He loves to have room to run, so we are now strongly recommending that he goes to a home with a fenced-in backyard. He does not run away or bolt away from anyone, but he loves to just smell and have free space to roam without being on a leash. We do not have a fenced-in backyard, so we bring him to my parents' house 3-4 times per week to let him run around and chase his dummy!

He also loves when new people come to the house and gets excited. He will jump, but we are working on that. We don't have too many new people come to our house that he hasn't already met, but he is a very quick learner, and we just say "down" and he will get down.

He did get to go to our lake cabin the other day and he did great! He walked up and down the dock. He did not go in the water as it was a cold day, but he was not startled by the water. He was just very curious.

He will sometimes growl when he is playing with a human friend, but it is not an aggressive growl; it is just playful! He has never shown any aggressive behavior towards another human or animal. He is a happy, easy, easily trainable pup!

It has been a few days since our last update, but we have been out of town! Cooper was at a RAGOM puppy sitter's house and had a blast! She had a Golden Retriever and a miniature Goldendoodle. Cooper did extremely well with both of the dogs. The Goldendoodle is the "mom" of the house, and when we first arrived, she barked at Cooper just a bit to show him that she is in charge. Cooper just laid on his back and did not attempt to argue with her! The Golden Retriever and Cooper played very well, and I believe she was 6 years old. Cooper does a phenomenal job of picking the right amount of playful activity depending on what dog he is playing with.

Cooper has started to try to be on the furniture. We have not been allowing him simply because it is hard to break that habit if his forever family does not allow dogs on the furniture. BUT... how can we make him be on the floor when all he wanted to do was lay next to our two little pups? He was so calm and just laid right down and stared at us with his sweet puppy eyes. We let him have his time on the couch!!

He also met my parents' 11-year-old Yellow Lab, and was so gentle with him and didn't jump on our Dawson's old and frail body!

Cooper has had only two potty accidents in the house, which have been our fault as we did not know he was waiting at the door. He always tells us when he has to go outside. He sleeps all night and waits patiently for his food each morning. Does he have puppy characteristics and behaviors? YES! But, if you ask us, he is the best puppy we could have asked for. He has given us no troubles and is a very sweet and calm boy (for the most part)!

Cooper has had a busy few days exploring the house and continuing to learn new things! He loves ice cubes and to play fetch! He still is working on going up stairs - his back legs are still working on strength! But as you can see, he can get up on to the puppy perch (only for smaller dogs, but he is an explorative young pup) just fine!! There have not been any concerns with Cooper. He greets new people who come in to our home very nicely. He will jump up on them, but it is a very gentle and friendly hello. We do use the command "no" or "down," and he responds well to that! Cooper just needs a home where he can be with his people and continue to train. He will be a very good, gentle, friendly companion!

Today was a great day at our house! Cooper has been doing so well! He loves, loves, loves having lots of toys to choose from. He and our two dogs are warming up to each other! Cooper just wants to play and he is quite a bit bigger than our 6-pound and 13-pound pups! He does very well with our dogs, but will do best in a home with no dogs or maybe just one other larger-sized dog!

Today, our household members had a busy day cleaning and preparing for a birthday dinner party! Cooper wanted to be right by us the whole day and would find a comfy spot to lay while we cleaned! We had two children over for the dinner. One child just turned one and the other just turned three. Cooper did very well, but he hasn't been around young, small human beings, so he was very curious. He was very gentle, but did like to take their toys out of their hands, as any puppy would!! He did very well when we gently reminded him to "leave it" or "be gentle." Now he's tuckered out and found a cool place to lay under our dining room table!! He also figured out how to look out the front window today and LOVES to keep watch over the neighborhood with one of our dogs!

Cooper has been doing so wonderfully! We went to All City Pet Care for a meet-and-greet today and Cooper had so much fun being petted and meeting other dogs. He is a bit eager when on his leash and gets a little out of breath! Tonight, he stayed very close to us, as usual, while we played a board game! He just loves to be close to his human friends. He also loves his Kong and will keep it within eyesight at all times!
