Introducing.....COPPER! Hello RAGOM followers. We have a new, wonderful foster dog in our family. His name is Copper and he is sooooo handsome! He is 5 years old, gorgeous dark red in color, weighing in at 72 lbs. He is affectionate and loves to be around people. He also loves to play with our resident dog Broder. They bow at each other and gently muzzel and chase one another. He quickly became acclimated to our home. He loves chasing his tail which we all get a kick out of, seeing a large dog run circles and then falling to the ground.

Copper is currently unavailable for adoption because he has an ACL tear in his knee that needs surgery which he will get fixed soon. We will need to keep him quiet and peaceful during his recovery in order to heal. We all look forward to going on long walks when all is said and done. Copper walks great with a gentle leader, otherwise is strong and pulls some.

Copper was surrendered to RAGOM after a family member developed allergies. They had him for his full life but unfortunately has to be given to a new home. He is such a pleasure to be around. He has learned to bark from our dog at passerbys out the window but will only bark if Broder is barking. He loves sleeping on the floor next to our bed at night. He has jumped on the bed a few times, which is ok with us, other than the jumping may damage his knee further so we keep him from doing that.

Keep watching Copper's page to follow his surgery and healing and when he will be ready for adoption.

Second Mate Copper here - Life with the V family has been pretty good. I get to hang out on the couch whenever I want, we go to the dog park not far from our house and I have lots of toys to shake and destroy. The one thing I don't like so much about my forever home is the Ragdoll cat who thinks he's the boss and whenever he's having a bad day and I get too close I get swatted. Good thing he doesn't have claws because you never know about him! Ohterwise, the Schnoodle and I are buddies and we play when the mood strikes.

My humans have a lake house and at first I was pretty interested in chasing the things they threw out in the water Then I realized there are much more interesting things that require my attention  - MINNOWS! I'm a bit obsessed and do nothing in the water but look for minnows. There's nothing that deters me and my mom puts me on a extendable, pivot tie out that let's me hunt minnows without getting too far from home.

I enjoy going on the boat and being first mate when we're at the lake. When we're at home, I prefer to hit the pond and see how many leeches I might bring home for mom,. I think they are a great prize...Mom, not so much!

I recently had to have some of my favorite toy, my tail, removed due to a tumor. The doc says it was benign and we got everything so we shouldn't have to worry. I hope they are right because there's not much to chase any more!

Well, thanks for checking in. I'm pretty happy with my furever family.

Here are some new photos of Copper. He is with his favorite toy, his monkey. He carries it with him wherever he goes. He's getting used to the squealing sound it makes if it's stretched, I think it surprises him a little. In the other photos we are outside spending time together. He loves running around out back chasing squirrels and rabbits and our resident dog. When he's not chasing he is lying around on the patio, relaxing, soaking up the sun with the sounds of birds chirping and trees rustling in the breeze. We still need to keep him from running and jumping too much as his leg continues to heal...it's not always easy. He desperately wants to run and play at full speed but it just takes time. He will be able to go in for his 8 week check up in 2 weeks and get an x-ray of how his healing is progressing. Copper sends kisses out to all his fans...xoxoxox.

If you want a dog who loves to follow you wherever you go, LOVES belly rubs and wags his tail every time you walk into the room just by the pitter patter sound of your feet then Copper is your dog.  When Copper is lying on the floor and you walk in the room he doesn't lift his head or jump up, he wags, wags, wags his tail..."thump, thump, thump."  It is absolutely heavenly to know that he is just so happy you are in the same room with him. He has so much love to give it's almost unbelievable. He is one of the sweetest dogs I have known.

His healing is continuing strong. He wants so badly to run and play and chase his tail but we must keep him calm in order for the healing to continue. He LOVES his daily walks so we  keep accommodating him because it's such a pleasure to see his face light up when we get out the leash.

Well, Copper had surgery 6 days ago for his ACL repair. He came out like a champ. He had a big cast on his leg for 3 days and it was difficult for him to get around and go to the bathroom but he did it. When the cast came off he was able to get around better and do his business. The healing process is a long one. We need to keep him very quiet for the next 8-12 weeks so he doesn't run into any complications.

It's not easy for any of us, especially Copper. He wants to run and play with our other dog and chase squirrels. I know some day he will run again without pain and that keeps us going. Copper is such a sweet dog, I can't say enough good things about him. We enjoy having him around so much. Oh, and did I mention how handsome he is? Amazingly so.

He is on a slew of meds right now for pain, an eye infection and a slight sore on his tail. He is back to eating normal and could gain a few pounds so we are feeding him good quality food with salmon and chicken to boot. Copper did keep me up the night of fireworks. He didn't like the high pitched squeally ones. But seems to do ok with storms. FYI: The vet did say his other knee may need surgery in the future because there is a slight tear in that knee also.  Hopefully not in the near future. Copper is healing quickly and is such a good boy.
