Our sweet little Corduroy was adopted today by a wonderful family who has previously adopted a RAGOM dog. They have an active 10 year old dog for Corduroy to play with. They also have a lake cabin, so Corduroy will get to have some fun in the water next summer. What Golden doesn't like a lake? Corduroy is an active 2 year old with lots of energy and will enjoy running with his new "dad" on his morning runs. Corduroy was a shy and scared boy when we got him and wasn't even able to cross through the doorway. He has learned to trust and warmed up to us over the past 2 weeks and even came to me with a kiss this morning. He will now come for pets and comes through the door when called. We just love this little guy and wish him the best in his new forever home with this very nice family.

Corduroy has been with us for a week and he is such a joy. He absolutely loves being outdoors and now fetches the ball, his new favorite toy. Doesn’t always bring it back to me, as he wants me to chase him!
He’s a door dasher and has slipped out the front door twice to get to his favorite place.....outside. Both times he visited some neighbors' yards and came right back to our front steps. He will need a fenced-in yard and another dog would be best for him. He walks well on a leash but will pull if he sees a squirrel!
Inside, he sticks close to us and is a perfect gentleman. Sleeps on the rug instead of the cozy dog bed. Has had no accidents. He is still scared of noises and strangers, but loves pets & snuggles from us now that he trusts us. Just a sweet guy looking for his forever home.

A bit more about Corduroy:
Corduroy is an English Cream Golden with just a hint of tan in his fluffy coat. Like most of the Turkey dogs, he is small relative to American Goldens, yet he is well proportioned (and very handsome!). One will appreciate his smaller size when the time comes to lift him up.
He is a young, healthy dog but his prior life experience is largely unknown. It’s safe to assume he’s had little training and doesn’t know his name or any commands. We’ve made some progress on his walks but he still tends to stride out in front and stops frequently to sniff and mark. He has a fair amount of energy and is reluctant to return home at the end of a walk. His future family should be prepared to invest time in training so that he’s more obedient, particularly when outdoors. Regular exercise is also a must, as it is key to the dog’s health and helps burn off the energy of a two year old.
Indoors he is a perfect gentleman and displays the classic Golden Retriever trait of staying close to you at all times. As he becomes comfortable with his forever family and their home, he’s likely to be a typical Velcro Golden.
It’s also worth noting that Corduroy is a well mannered car passenger, able to jump into (and out of) an SUV, where he settles in immediately. He went for a ride yesterday and had his second bath at the groomer and it’s safe to say baths are not one of his favorite activities.

Corduroy has been with us for a little over a week and his sweet personality is already evident. He is a confident dog outdoors but is still getting used to life indoors. When going for walks, he strides out ahead but doesn't pull when wearing a harness. It will take some time for him to get used to the bunnies and squirrels that are so active this time of year, as he currently wants to give chase. A fenced yard is probably a must.
At home, he has freedom to roam but tends to stay close by. He's a light sleeper at nap time and will jump up and follow you around the house. He has not had a single accident but it's hard to tell if/when he needs to go outside since he always wants to go outside! He sleeps through the night without making a sound. He is comfortable in a crate but has also done well sleeping on the floor next to a bed.
Corduroy has had limited interactions with children and cats and while there haven't been any issues, he'd be best in a home with older children and no cats. He's met without issue a number of dogs during walks but has reacted to just one or two including a Great Dane (see "confident dog", above!).
