Hello!
Crystal here. Have you seen the new snow? I love it! Sasha, my foster sister, and I get a chance to play outside in fluffy stuff that’s not leaves and dirt. Boy, did we make a mess of my foster mom’s rug with that!
Well, now we’re having fun chasing and digging for balls that are lost in the snow. Can’t stay out too long, though, because it’s pretty cold and our tootsies get frozen.
I’m trying to find my new home again. How can you refuse such a sweetie like me? (I’m humble, too.) But seriously, I am housebroken, love to ride in the car, mind my manners at the vet, and don’t shed as much as my foster sister. So, there you go.
My Foster Mom says I should tell you that I still pull when we take a walk on the leash. I just can’t get used to that silly Gentle Leader!
Listen. I’ll be at the meet-and-greet in Roseville again, so we can visit there and you can see for yourself what a love bug I can be. It’s on Saturday, April 27. Be there, so we can get to know each other, okay?
I just know it’ll be love at first sight.

Since our last report, Crystal has made great strides. She is now housebroken. Yay!
Because the weather is finally cooperating, we’ve been walking her with our resident dog, Sasha. Crystal wears a Gentle Leader and fights to have it put on her, but forgets about it after a while. She still likes to walk both sides of you as she travels, so she frequently gets a bit tangled in Sasha’s leash. But... it’s progress!
Her heartworm and fecal tests were negative; she is microchipped and all shots up to date. She loves to eat and gets very excited in the morning, but has learned to sit first. We think she is highly trainable, especially good for beginning obedience.
Crystal has free roam with us when we’re home or gone for 2-3 hours. She often naps in her crate with the door open. At night, she kennels up with no issues and sleeps there with the door closed until 6:30 or 7 am.
She’s a great companion dog, just waiting for her forever home with another dog and enough exercise to tire her out!

Crystal had her first coming-out party on Saturday at the Central Park Pet Expo in Woodbury. She had a blast. There was never a moment of shyness or fear as she was exposed to many people and dogs of all sizes and ages.
As you can see from the photos, she was in her element! She was inquisitive, sweet, and gentle around everyone – even to posing in the kissing booth where she was a star.
We are so pleased to have had this opportunity to see her shine. With the recent cold and snowy weather, we haven’t had a chance to walk much. Hopefully, that will change soon. She does like to pull right now, so there will be some learning to do as she gets used to the Gentle Leader and/or a harness.
One never wants to speak about the success of house training, for fear of an accident. But she has made remarkable progress in this area. She still sleeps overnight in a crate and during the day, if we are gone.
The crate is available with the door open when we are home. Sometimes, she needs a break as she can get pretty excited trying to rough-house with our resident dog who does not want to engage. For that reason, Crystal will need another medium-high-energy dog in her forever home to help burn off her liveliness. Our dog, Sasha, is just too mellow for Crystal’s enthusiasm.

Hey! It’s me, Crystal. I’ve been missing someone special, like you, so let’s try to get together. I’m going to be in Woodbury for a RAGOM meet-and-greet on Saturday from 10:30 am to noon. Here's more information about the event. You’ll see the most beautiful me then because I’m getting groomed tomorrow. Can’t wait!
It’s been way too cold for new pictures outdoors. Ya’ know, like playing in the snow with my foster sister, Sasha? My toes get cold and I have to lift my paws high in the air to prance back to the outside door. And then, there’s the snow… and more snow… and even more snow. What’s a dog to do? You have to go when you have to go!
Anyway, can we meet up? My foster mom and foster dad are bringing me there just to see you, so come on down. It’ll be toasty inside, and you can even buy your resident dog(s) some new treats. Ah, I guess they’re called cookies. But isn’t that what those Girl Scouts sell? It’s all good, no worries.

P.S. My foster mom says to tell you that, with a little encouragement, I’m now 94.85% housebroken - only one accident in one week. How about that?!

Our newest foster, Crystal, arrived at the RAGOM office on one of Minnesota’s snowiest weekends. It’s now a few weeks later, and Crystal has been through a few rough patches, not because of the ice, but just for being a mom.
Crystal is a 2.5-year-old purebred Golden who comes to us from a breeder. Somewhat surprisingly, she is pretty well adjusted and gaining sociability and more trust every day.
As Crystal arrived on a Sunday, she was immediately sent to an emergency vet service for evaluation on a condition known as vaginal prolapse. It was causing her discomfort and quite a bit of pain. She was held over for surgery the next day and came through it splendidly. Because of her condition, she also was spayed. No more babies for Crystal, but a good start on her way to a forever family. Maybe, you?
On Monday, Crystal had all her stitches removed, and the next day, our vet brought her up to date on required vaccinations. Her prolapse meds are finished, and next week, she will be groomed and beautified!
She is truly a sweet girl who loves treats and toys and playing with our 2.5-year–old resident dog, Sasha. Crystal is tall and strong and weighs in at around 70 pounds. We are still working on getting her housebroken, something she’s not quite used to. But she is a fast learner, so we’re sure it won’t be long.
