Dakota is a young 9 year old and was surrendered because her family is moving and could not take her with them, She is well behaved and has the proverbial golden personality. Dakota has only been with us for a couple days and she is such a sweetheart. She enjoyed getting a bath and loved the attention. She follows us around the house and yard and knows several commands and comes to us when called.

She went to the vet today and has some infected ears that the vet said would be all better in 2 weeks and also a broken molar that might have to be pulled. She weighs 60 lbs and could get down to 50 to be at an ideal weight. Beyond that she is in good health with good muscle tone and joints. She enjoys going outside, making snow angels and keeps up easily with our resident 5 year old. She slept on the floor beside our bed without a peep.

Come meet this sweetie at Chuck and Don’s in Forest Lake this Saturday, 4/2/11 between 11 and 2.

We adopted Dakota (11-101) in April 2011. She has been a great companion and friend to me in retirement. I am writing to let you know that for the past year she has struggled with progressive loss of mobility due to arthritis. On October 23, 2017 she was euthanized at the Rockford Road Animal Hospital. She was 16 years old. We miss her greatly.

Thanks to RAGOM and all the volunteers that made it possible for us to adopt Dakota. She was a great dog and so much more to me than just a pet.

Dakota has been with us 10 days now and a lot has happened in that time. She went back to the Vet to get UTD on her shots, get her microchip implanted, and get her broken tooth pulled since it was infected. Once they got a closer look, they saw the teeth on both sides of the broken one were bad too so she had 3 teeth pulled that day. She did really well and we could tell she was feeling 100% better the next day. Her ears are a lot better too.

Last week we had someone interested in meeting her, but we wanted to get to know her better before letting her be adopted. We introduced her to our 3 & 5 year old grandsons and she LOVED them. While on a walk around our neighborhood, she met quite a few dogs and it didn’t matter what size they were… she wanted to play with them! At first she pulled a little on the leash, but eventually figured out that we would let her stop and check things out.

We had the couple’s placement advisor ask if they could come to Chuck & Don’s to meet her because we wanted to see how she was in a busy place. She was GReat and loved all of the people petting her and giving her treats! I’ve included some pictures of her at the event. The nice couple came to meet her at Chuck & Don’s and couldn’t believe how sweet and mellow she is. After visiting with her for almost an hour, they went home and sent an email to their placement advisor again to say they were still interested in her. They are coming to our house tomorrow to see her again when there aren’t so many people and dogs around! Paws crossed that Dakota might have already found her furever home!
