Welcome Dancer 14-147 to RAGOM!! It took a long transport from Kentucky for this sweet 2-year-old Golden mix to arrive in Minnesota and begin her new life. A big thank you to all the volunteers involved in bringing Dancer and several other dogs to rescues along the way from Kentucky to Minnesota. It couldn't have happened without this huge effort.

Not very much is known about Dancer as she came from a shelter. But she seems to have been well cared for and loved as she is just a love. She is believed to be about 2 years old. I don't think she is much older than that as she still exhibits some puppy-like behaviors. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations. She has been started on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Her current weight of 48 pounds is ideal for her. She did test positive for whipworm for which she is being treated. This treatment is easily administered and the first round has been completed.

How sweet is she? Just about the best! Dancer, even though she is a Golden mix, has many of the Golden qualities. She loves to be petted and I often find her leaning in for pets and attention. She loves her belly rubs. This young lady sleeps well through the night and easily can go 8-10 hours without being let out. She has free roam of the house and I have not crated her at all. She likes to be outside and especially likes the neighborhood bunnies. If allowed, she would be after them in a heartbeat. But she will spend most of the time lying in the screened porch and just watching the world go by. She has not tried to get on any furniture and will sleep on the floor or on the dog bed.

Dancer walks fairly well on a flat leash. She pulls some, but usually when she spies a bunny or squirrel. Actually, her aggresivness towards them has lessened some as we walk more. I haven't found it necessary to use a Gentile Leader. She meets people well, although she does tend to jump up on them. We are working on this and it isn't as if she wants to knock them down; she's just exuberant to meet new people. She has only met a few other dogs, but seems to do okay. She and resident dog Willow get along fine. They are both, however, food driven. So I feed them separately as there might be a bit of resource guarding. She loves her food and treats. I think she would do well in obedience classes as she is very treat motivated. It would also give her an opportunity to learn a few manners.

Oh, one last thing for now. She has the most incredible coat. I don't know what she is a mix of, but her coat is like silk. You could save it and knit a sweater out of it, it is so silky. But that would be hard to do as the other thing is she doesn't shed. I even tried the Furminator and got virtually no hair from it. Amazing. She is always happy and her tail is always up.

Dancer is just the best. She smiles and will have you smiling at her antics. She is so ready to love and be loved. If you think Dancer would be welcome into your home, please let your placement advisor know.
