Darcy 19-053A

Profile

Darcy came into RAGOM's care when she was retired from the breeding life. Darcy is a bit overweight and arrived with ear infections but is otherwise healthy. Darcy is a sweet girl but is very fearful of new situations and people and needs time to slowly adjust to home life. She requires a medium/large confident dog companion and a physical fence to keep her safe. She cannot live in a home with children because of her skittishness. Darcy's new family will need patience as she learns to live as a house dog.

To understand why RAGOM will adhere to our requirements for Darcy regarding children and another dog, please read about Retired Breeding Dogs.

Precious Darcy was welcomed into our home a little over a week ago. She was nervous and reserved, and she needed a bath!

She spent two days hiding in her crate. On the third morning, she slowly came out of her shell and explored the house very slowly and cautiously.

Darcy has bonded quickly with Douglas, my resident Golden, and really looks to him for cues. She will need another dog in her forever home to make her feel comfortable and safe.

Darcy is a quiet dog and she is still learning what it means to be an inside dog and a loved member of a family. When inside, she still uses her crate with the door open as her safe space. Foster Mom can tell she is becoming more relaxed in her crate as she rolls on her back instead of being curled up in a ball.

She is housetrained, with only one accident on day one. What a smart girl!

When we are at home, she does have free roam of the house and we do encourage her to hang out with us. She slowly approaches us and loves to be petted.

Darcy had her first leash walk with Douglas today. She was a little confused at the beginning, but quickly learned from Douglas. Walking will become our routine exercise since Darcy does need to lose a few pounds.

This beautiful pup is staying with one cat and one dog. She has no interest in the cat at all and gets along with Douglas, following him in the house.

Darcy is a beautiful, healthy girl. Her vet visit was quite easy, and she is scheduled for her spay on April 8th. We will keep you updated with the progress in the next couple of weeks.
