Magnificent Molly joined the RAGOM family with her very good friend Sadie 15-039.  They were sadly surrendered to a shelter when their owners were moving and couldn’t take them with.  Molly and Sadie are a bonded pair of dogs, and we would really like to find a home for the two of them together.  When Molly and Sadie first came into RAGOM, they stayed at a boarding facility until a foster home could take them.  The facility took fantastic care of the girls during their stay there and we thank them for all the love and care they received.

Molly is an 8 year old yellow lab who is just the sweetest thing.  She has a slender build and weighs about 70 pounds.  Molly came into RAGOM spayed and is now up-to-date on all her vaccinations.  All her other tests came back looking good, except she tested positive for Lymes.  Lymes is a tick borne illness caused by a bite of an infected tick, and it is currently causing Molly to wear out easily and she has some joint pain and soreness.  This is an easily treated disease and she will need to be on antibiotics for about 30 days to make sure she is well.  In addition, we will test a sample of her urine to make sure her kidneys aren’t affected at all.  Molly is also being treated for an UTI infection with some antibiotics.  She has had no accidents inside at all, but does need to go potty frequently when we are outside.  We have started Molly on preventatives for ticks and heartworms since spring is here. Today when we arrived home, we noticed that one of Molly’s eyes was a bit different looking.  Our vet diagnosed it as Horner’s Syndrome and believes it is related to a small infection she has in her ear.  Her eye will go back to being “normal” hopefully soon.  It doesn’t seem to affect her at all and she acts no different.  While it sounds like Molly has a few medical things going on, all of them will be resolved in the next few weeks with no permanent issues.

When I think of both Molly and Sadie, the best words I can think of to describe them are Pure Sweetness.  They both get along well with other dogs, are well mannered in the house, love people of all ages and are very gentle.

Molly and Sadie attended a RAGOM event last week and loved all the attention.  They will be at the Shakopee event on April 25 if you want to come and meet them!

As I mentioned before, Molly and Sadie are considered a bonded pair and we would like to see them adopted together.  Honestly, I wasn’t really sure that I believed in the whole idea of a bonded pair prior to their arrival here.  However, watching them interact together, drinking out of a water bowl together (and only together), playing, and constantly supporting each other, is amazing.  I now believe in what a “bonded pair” of dogs is and really hope that there is a wonderful family out there who is interested in both of them.

We are still learning a lot about Molly.  Be sure to watch for updates soon as she settles in here even more.  If you would be interested in sponsoring Molly or donating to help cover the expenses of her medical care, Molly (and her foster family) would be forever grateful!

Molly was adopted by a fantastic family today and will have a new fur brother as well. Molly was an absolute joy to foster and although it was heart-wrenching to say farewell to her, it was also so rewarding to know she was adopted by a great family who will treat her like a queen. We love you dearly Molly Dolly - enjoy your new life!!

It has been a busy few weeks here and Molly has continued to do great. We decided to do a trial separation of Molly and Sadie for a couple of weeks and that has gone well. Both dogs have adjusted great being without each other and they are now in different foster homes. Molly would do just fine being adopted on her own.

Molly continues to be a joy to have as a foster. She fits in very well here and really goes with the flow. She traveled up to the lake with us and stayed in our camper. Molly was extremely excited to see the lake and enjoyed laying in the sun. She enjoyed jumping off the dock a few times and really wanted to swim around more than we let her.

Molly needs a family who is willing to bring her along on a few adventures. She LOVES going on car rides and would be sad if she is always left behind. She has come with us for the day to visit family and always does great in new environments. She likes to sit in the car in a place where she can see out. My children always say, “Look, Molly is sitting like a human again!” when she is sitting on a seat in the car looking out the window.

Molly is 8 years old, but loves to play with our dogs, who are 2 and 4 years old. Molly does not act like an 8 year-old dog. She has a lot of energy, but is also very calm and laid back. She has energy to do fun things, like go for a car ride, take a long walk, and run around in the backyard and wrestle with her dog friends. Molly takes redirection well, and on the rare occasion that she gets overly excited when meeting someone and decides to start to jump up, she calms down as soon as we tell her to.

Molly would do best with another dog around. She would be just fine in a family as an only dog, but would really benefit from having doggy friends that she could see at times and play. She was very bonded with Sadie and enjoys the companionship of another furry friend. She would really enjoy having another dog to spend time with and play. If you would like more information on Molly or to set up a meeting with her, please let your placement advisor know! She would love to meet you!

Molly has continued to do great in our house.  She is a honey and listens very well.  Molly has been pulling a bit on the leash, so we have been using a gentle leader and that helps a lot.  After we walk for a few blocks, she calms down and we just use the flat leash.  The other day on a walk, I said the word “heel” to our other dog and Molly instantly dropped by and walked by my side.  We need to try it few more times to see if she really knows that word or not.  She definitely knows “sit”, “stay”, “wait”, “lay down”, and “shake”.  Molly is 8 years old, but acts like a much younger dog as far as her stamina, now that she is feeling better.  She never acts stiff or sore and is very perky outside.  The great part about her is she also loves to snuggle up on the couch, lie on the floor or relax and is a master at the game of fetch with tennis balls.  She also LOVES to roll around in the grass.  Molly’s eye  (Horner’s Syndrome) is almost completely back to normal, although some days it still looks a little goofy with her third eye lid up. Most days it looks normal.  This will keep getting better with time.  Her ears look great now and her UTI is all cleared up.  She has not had one accident and is left alone for 4-6 hours at a time while we work.  We come home at lunch and then leave again for about 3-4 hours.  We currently have her and Sadie gated together in the kitchen and they do very well with that.  I think they would also both do well with free roam in a house.

Hi everyone!  My foster mom has been really busy planting her garden, so I stole her computer for a few minutes to let you know how I am doing.  (Don’t tell her!)  I am feeling fantastic this week and have really perked up since starting my antibiotic for Lymes.  I think I heard them talking that I have about another 2 weeks of medicine yet I have to take.

I get really excited when my foster people come home from work each day and have started doing an all paws off the ground jump.  I know I can’t jump up on people, so I never do.  I just do a little happy dance and then sit really nice so my leash can be put on.  I am so happy to be in a home with all these people!  My foster dad said I am one of the sweetest dogs he has fostered.  I would like to also let you know that I am fully house trained and get along great with other dogs.  If you might have room for me in your home, please let your placement advisor know!  Remember, my pal Sadie and I need to be adopted together, but she is an awesome friend to me and will be to you as well.  I hope to be able to meet my forever family soon!
