Eamon continues to do well. He loves playing with our resident dog, Kassidy, and gets along fine with visiting dogs after a warm-up period. He has a sweet personality and is easy to have around the house. He is still a little timid about going through doors. He is a small, clean dog with very soft ears, and he likes to give little kisses and snuggle with you in the early morning and at night watching TV. He loves walks. He would do best in a quiet home.

Foster Paw Print Stickers can be purchased and put next to a photo of my handsome self (or any other of my pal foster friends, as well!). I won't be there for you to admire, as I don't like crowds!
I love resting on Foster Mom's hip.
What are you doing with that little black box, Foster Mom?

Eamon is pretty happy-go-lucky these days. He has conquered his fear of going through doors 95% of the time. He now has no fear of eating meals next to our two resident dogs. He just eats his own food and ignores the others. He has excellent recall and likes to chase the ball.
Eamon has overcome 95% of his shyness from being isolated in a hoarding situation. He has been out of there for close to six months now. He is completely healthy and happy; has a short, clean fur coat; only weighs 45 pounds; loves to do whatever you are doing, whether that be hiking or sitting on the couch; can be a snugglebug at times; and is sweet and submissive. All he needs is another confident dog in the home. He got along with a cat in his temporary foster home.
We would be happy to answer any and all questions you might have for Eamon. He is a wonderful dog and is ready to call someplace home forever.

Eamon continues to amaze us with how relaxed he has become. He loves going for walks and swimming. He likes to playfully tease his foster-sister, to get her going with a wrestling match. If he barks in the yard, he immediately stops if we say, "Eamon, no bark," and then he comes to us. He likes to hang out on the deck or on the couch with us. He is a loving, sweet dog!

Foster Dad and I think Eamon is ready to meet potential families for adoption. He needs another confident dog in the home; a highly structured routine; a quiet environment; lots of exercise; and a family who is home most of the time, understands shy dogs, and is willing to let him build trust at his own pace. He will reward you by being your best friend.
He cannot be kenneled (see previous updates). He would likely chase a cat, as he is very quick on his feet. Dog-savy, quiet, older children are okay.
It has taken our family 5-6 weeks to earn Eamon's trust. We would expect a similar timeframe for the adoptive family. You would also need to gradually expose him to environments outside of the home.
He is fine in the car, sleeps well, and takes naps. He is a healthy and happy medium-small dog with short, clean fur. He has good recall. He often gives you short kisses. He has a soft face and sweet personality. If he thinks he is alone or sees a stranger, he will bark. He and one of our other dogs have howling contests when a siren goes by.
Eamon is estimated to be three years old, 45 pounds, neutered, and vaccinated.

Foster Dad reporting:
Eamon continues to make good progress with seldom a setback. He came to us with a lot of those puppy mill symptoms: fear of going through doors, people standing, eating in public, and a general fear of sudden movement and noises. It's great to see him progress, but some areas are slower than others.
He's become more social with people, including us. He will come to visit when we are sitting, and sometimes will accept an open hand when we're standing. He gets along well with other dogs and at times likes to play. He loves walks, and jumps into the car to go, but is reluctant to get back in the car to leave. He absolutely loves to swim, and does fetch sticks thrown into the water. His canine housemates are really key to him making progress.
As time progresses, he will be looking for a forever home that has dogs, someone who likes to exercise them, and someone who won't be away for extended hours of the day at work.

We welcomed Eamon (pronounced A-mon) to our home two weeks ago. He received wonderful care from his Temporary Foster for the first three months with RAGOM, after being rescued from a hoarding situation. We are his Permanent Foster Parents and look forward to helping this sweet boy get used to the world.
Although we heard he was 48 pounds, he looks much smaller than we imagined -- medium small and a good size for any family. He likes to be petted, and will come up to you for loving if you are sitting down. He will stay away if you are standing. He is afraid of going through doors, unless he goes through with the rest of the pack like a herd of cattle. We found out that Eamon does like to swim and has done so twice with the other dogs.
He has taken a shine to Foster Dad, and will follow him around the yard with the rest of the dogs and wags when given verbal attention. He likes to go for walks, and knows that going in the car means a walk, but it takes him a while to muster up the courage to get in. Foster Dad picks him up, puts him in his lap, and pets him each day for about 15 to 30 minutes. We have all the time in the world for Eamon to get used to things and are not pushing him.

Eamon enjoys using all his energy to play with new foster Wendy. This was a very good thing for him, and she also will put him in his place if he is too outgoing or rough. He is getting used to me more, too. He comes now to sit in my lap to be petted, and he has learned the "sit" command. He will ride in the kennel in the car, but will refuse to come out if you take him anyplace. When coming home, he will come out on his own now. Eamon is still a very aggressive eater and loves his treats. He will play with toys by himself or chew on leftover bones, but I still worry about leaving him unattended for too long as he seems to get himself into trouble. Once, he picked up a pencil that had fallen on the floor and chewed it up, and another time, he got a hold of paper blown onto the floor and chewed it. He seems more of a puppy in this behavior and will try anything. He will exchange if he has something inappropriate. He loves to chew on rawhides and bones, play with toys, and run and chase Wendy.
Eamon is a high-energy dog, and will need another dog to play with or many hours on walks and playtime. He doesn't play fetch or toys outside, and does not go in the water as yet.
Due to his past life, Eamon is very jumpy if touched without him knowing. He is still afraid of new things and trusting other people. So if someone comes, he will run to the kennel, but will come out to check what is going on from a distance. The door to the kennel can't be closed, as he gets very hyper when this happens and will try to escape. He is better left with free roam with the other dogs than kenneled. He will actually move a large kennel or chew it up or anything he can reach outside, as nothing can be inside with him either. I tried a bone with him when I left once and did not even look at it. He does not like to be gated either, as he will chew up the gate. It seems to me that he is more hyper when you return if he is left alone, and these seem to be scary times for him. I also noticed that he paces a lot even when other dogs are sleeping, as if afraid to sleep. I did close, but not lock, the kennel one day, and he seemed to lay down and rest. He is getting better now to sleep on a dog bed at times. Sometimes, it seems like he doesn't know where he would be safe to sleep, and since encouraging him to my lap, he seems to settle down more and also trust me to protect him. I think Eamon will have to learn to trust me more, and then he will be more settled with getting out in public. He is still very anxious around new things and places, and it will take time.
Last week, I had to mow the grass, and he hid in the far corner of the yard. I would call him, and he would come toward me, but would return to the corner. Eamon needs someone with patience to work with him, as it may be a slow process or may just happen one day that things will be better for him. He is a very happy dog with lots of tail wags, and loves to be brushed and petted like any other dog. Just his world has expanded, and he is so afraid of trusting since being in his past situation. At this time, he would need someone to be home with him all the time and another confident dog to show him both love and trust until he is ready to enjoy his life without fear.
He can't be around children because of his high fear issue. He needs a companion dog who is confident. He is fine around cats, but may need slow introductions to them. Once he knows you, he wants to please and will push others away to be the main one, but you must show him he is not the only one who likes pets, or he may become aggressive to other dogs wanting attention.
Eamon is a work in progress and will give you much joy. I fostered him temporarily to get him on his journey. Anyone who would like to foster and help with Eamon can contact our Intake team. Eamon is unavailable for adoption at the present time as he needs more growth. Anyone wishing to contribute to his care can contact RAGOM as Eamon loves donations.

Eamon has a new friend in a Turkish dog to play with outside. Hopefully, this will help reduce the high energy level. He loves to play chase in the backyard. He loves toys, but must be supervised as he will chew on some and tear apart, especially rubber ones for some reason. He did get an upset stomach later in the evening through all of excitement of a new dog in the house and being a little afraid of her.
With a new dog in the house, Eamon stayed closer to the kennel, and I could see some backslide to when he first came to be here. It will take him time to adjust to new dogs and relax, and it will get easier with time. His only contact with other dogs before was competition for food and not companionship. Eamon did play chase with her outside, and I have included pictures, but he is still a little wary. If you would like to donate for his care, please contact RAGOM and also watch when he is available for adoption as a very nice 3-year-old.

Eamon had his neuter on April 1, and I have included a picture of him wearing his improvised collar. He only needed one for a short time--2 days--as incision was glued. He did fine with these socks stuffed and tied to the collar. He could actually use it as a pillow when he laid down. It is now off, and he is doing very well and never lost his appetite or energy during the whole process.
He loves to play with toys to entertain himself, and lately will go to the toy box several times and bring toys to his kennel. Every so often, I have to move some back to the box, as he doesn't return them on his own and can go to get them again when he wants to play with them. Eamon has also learned to jump from the side of the chair into my lap if he wants my attention. He has jumped on the couch by me for pets too, but doesn't stay and is off again after about 5 minutes to his kennel or another toy.
Lately, he has decided he likes to nap on the floor instead of the dog bed or kennel, perhaps because my other dog prefers to sleep this way. They seem to pick up things from the other dog in the house. I also noticed Eamon doesn't always lift his leg to pee and may have seen this from the other dog too, as I just noticed this happening the other day.
He is still in training and not ready for adoption, as he needs help on learning to go for walks and riding in the vehicle. It takes time to be accustomed to so many changes since coming into RAGOM.
Keep watching for updates, and Eamon welcomes donations to help with getting him ready to eventually find a forever home.

Eamon wants to thank Cait, his fur sister, for the donation and has included pictures of how he has learned to play with Bonnie. He loves to get her to chase him around the tank in the picture. Once play started with Bonnie, he now does it every day with her. He hopes Cait gets to learn that RAGOM life is just as fun as what he is experiencing.
