He is trusted and well behaved in the house.  This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Edman is a healthy 5 year old male Golden Doodle who weighs 76 pounds and is currently being fostered in East Bethel, Minnesota.
Edman's surrendering owners (SO's) were moving and were unable to take Edman with them to their new home. The SO's lovingly surrendered Edman to RAGOM.

Edman (foster mom [FM] sometimes calls him Eddie) is a fun loving boy, who loves his people and loves to play with with the resident dogs. Eddie is inquisitive about the cat in the home, but has not hurt him.

Eddie is 100% house-trained and stands by the door when he needs to go out. Eddie is a good rider in the car; quiet and relaxed and he has no problem jumping in and out of the car.

Eddie had free roam with his SO's and has proven to be trustworthy in FM's home. Eddie has not been destructive with anything that is off limits. Eddie and one of the resident dogs played tug-o-war with a dog toy and let's just say the toy no longer exists.

Eddie likes to run after tennis balls and does a nice job bringing them back so FM can continue to throw for him. Running around in the back yard with the other resident dogs is a favorite past-time for Eddie.
When it's time to settle down, Eddie is happy to lay down and curl up next to FM's feet near the couch or on the rug near the door. Eddie is a good boy in the house. He likes to be where the action is and doesn't want to be left out of the mix.
Not only is Eddie a big boy, he is a strong boy. Eddie has a tendency to pull when on his leash, so a harness helps and a Gentle Leader would help even more. Eddie would benefit from some basic obedience so he and his owner would enjoy their walks together.
Eddie hasn't been kenneled since he was a pup, but he will also go into FM's kennel with no problem.
Because of Eddie's large size, it would be best if any children in the home were a little older. Eddie could easily knock over any toddlers.
Eddie is a delightful boy who just wants to play and be loved. He will be a wonderful addition to any family who is fortunate to adopt him. A home with another dog or two that likes to play would probably be preferred by Eddie. A dog savvy cat would do just fine with Edman.

Here's a photo of Eddie showing off his beautiful big brown eyes.
If you think you could be Eddie's forever family he would love to meet you.

Edman is a very lucky boy to have found his forever family. The H Family's last dog was a therapy dog who worked at the airport and the U of M. They have the same plans for our Edman. His soulful eyes and gentle nudging his nose on your arm will win over everyone.

New pics of sweet Edman

Saturday, July 15, 2017

We have only had sweet Edman since July 9, but have already fallen in love with him!  My husband calls him a gentle giant.  When he wants a pat, he will just gently nudge your hand and lean into you.

He is completely potty trained and when he has to go, he will just stand at the door and wait for you to notice him.

We have not crated him and he does fine roaming the house with our resident dog while we are gone.  He has been left alone for as long as 7 hours and did just fine!

He does not jump up on the furniture and prefers to lay right at your feet.  He is a perfect gentleman and sits on command and also will  ‘shake’.

I took Edman to preschool with me and he passed with flying colors!  He could be trained to be a service dog – he was so great with the young children (aged 3-5) as well as the older people who use our building as a walking track in the morning.  Everyone came over to see him. I was so proud of him.

Edman has not been around cats, so I am not sure how he would do around them.

He loves to play ball, chew on his bone, and chase other dogs around the yard.  He is a great walker and does not pull at all!  On our walks, he does not bark at other dogs/people.  He seems just so happy to be out.  He also enjoys car rides and will lay down for most of the ride, but there have been times, he will sit up and rest his chin on my shoulder as I’m driving.

The sweetest thing he does is when we come home from somewhere he has to greet us with a toy in his mouth.  I’ve watched him do this – he will hear the doorbell ring and runs around the house looking for just the right toy to give our guest.

He does like to play with other dogs, but he really wants to be by his people.  So I would say he does not need another dog in the house.

Edman does not need a fenced in yard, he does come when you call him and never ventures far.

He is in perfect health, UTD on shots, and is currently on HW and tick/flea prevention.
