Precious Eli has been adopted by the wonderful “Z” family. He is at his new home and all settled in now. The family keep commenting on how sweet he is, and what a mellow temperament he has. It’s pretty easy to fall in love with that boy! Please join me in wishing the family and Eli the very, very best!

Eli is a 4-year-old laid back, super-sweet boy. He weighs 85 pounds and has a stocky and muscular build, but needs to lose about 10 pounds to be at his ideal weight. We’ve been making sure he gets lots of exercise with walks and ball retrieving to get him firmed up! He had his wellness vet check and is up to date on all his vaccinations and preventatives.
Eli came to RAGOM with his sister Ellie Mae 18-166 from a family who had major changes to their home situation. We are so thankful they reached out to us to find them new homes. Both dogs are gems.
Eli is super tuned into his people and wants nothing more than to be close to us. He loves touch and being petted, and will gladly roll over for a tummy rub. He is as easy going as they come.
He knows basic commands and is a wonderful listener. He immediately comes when I call him. He loves all kinds of balls and is quite the retriever.
He also LOVES water, and regularly sticks his paws in the water bucket or immerses his snout. It is pretty cute. I haven’t taken him to the lake yet, but I suspect when I do I’ll have a new BFF. There has been no resource guarding, nor any accidents since he’s been here.
His challenges: He has never walked on a leash so at first there was lots of pulling, weaving, and getting underfoot. I starting using a Gentle Leader for his walks and that has made a world of difference. I also use an Easy Walk harness for daily shuffling, i.e., getting him to the car.
His crazy pulling is really getting under control using these two approaches. Eli needs work in the manners department, so a family who likes working with their dog(s), and getting them out and about to practice would be ideal.
He is a big honey, and I guarantee you’ll fall in love with him when you meet him.
