Finnegan (Rosco 09-494)

Profile

Rosco came into RAGOM on December 4th. He is one beautiful dog! He was living with a family that could not keep him anymore due to job changes. His owner's mother sadly gave him to RAGOM because she could not keep him either. She knows that RAGOM will take care of him forever and will find him a great home. Rosco had been living outside with another Golden. He had access to a heated garage, but did not get all the attention he deserves. He has been adjusting to life inside with humans, cats, and the resident dog Belle.

Rosco is a beautiful medium gold color, with a big, blocky head.  His face is gorgeous and his pictures do not do him justice. He is neutered and up to date on his shots and heartworm meds. He does have seizures and takes phenobarbital twice a day. He has only had one seizure since arriving here 2 weeks ago. He had been missing some meds before going to the SO's house, so the vet thinks that he will probably be fine on his current dose, which is a moderate one and could be increased if he should begin having seizures more often. He is in good health other than that, and we are working on getting more exercise and measuring out his food carefully so that he gets just the right amount. He weighs 76 pounds, which is a little bit heavy for him. Our goal is for him to weigh about 65 pounds.

Rosco is awesome with my 3 cats, who are very afraid of anything new. Rosco is so extraordinarily gentle that they barely gave him a second glance! That made foster mom so very happy. Rosco has met many people and dogs over the last two weeks and he loves everyone.

Rosco had his picture taken with Santa Claus at the vet tech club Pet Spa. He stands perfectly while being brushed. He is an angel!

Rosco loves sleeping in people beds, and it has been a little crowded, but he is soooooo warm! He prefers to have his head on the pillow---right smack in the middle of it, too. He does not mind, though, that the cat thinks he makes a good pillow.

Rosco would probably be a good companion for almost anyone, but FM is looking for someone really special who will give him the love he needs.

Rosco has been with this foster family for almost two months now. He is the most gentle dog ever! He never barks, but lets foster mom know he wants attention by nudging her arm, especially when she is trying to work on the computer!

Rosco is very photogenic, but since mom dropped and broke the camera, there are only older pictures (of when the snow was fresh) to show you. Who wants to see pictures of the dirty, icy snow, anyway! Rosco looks particularly handsome with snowflakes on his fur.

Since Rosco has been getting more exercise and playtime with resident dog Belle, he has become more playful. He still won't bark, but greets the family every morning with "Arr arr ooooh!" which is an all purpose greeting that means, "How are you?", "I love you", and "I want food!". He does a happy dance by the kitchen gate that gets a bit peppier everyday.

Rosco will be becoming part of his foster family's permanent collection. Foster mom should have seen this one coming, as Rosco was the only foster dog she had to stop by and show to foster dad before she even brought him home.

Our house was short one dog, but we are now complete!
