Ginger is one of the sweetest pups, so gentle and loving. Foster Mom took in two little puppies that need some loving and care. Ginger wanted to jump right in and give me a hand.

She stood over these two little loves and offered herself to them. She tried to let them nurse even though she is running on empty. She licked and cleaned them just like they were her very own. Now that is a true mama—selfless and pure love!

Ginger is doing so well, she has become very social and just loves people. She gets along great with other dogs.

I have finished my job as her foster mom and she has finished her job as a breeding mother dog. The day has come and it is time for her to move on to her new life and new home.

Ginger was adopted today, she has the most wonderful family that will give her whatever she needs to continue to grow. They love her and understand what she needs.

I will truly miss my sweet Ginger Snap. I know she is in good hands. Congratulations to the M family. Enjoy this sweet girl—she is one in a million!

Ginger had a great time at the Meet & Greet today—she met lots of nice people and went up to everyone for pets.

She really loves people and will seek them out for attention. She also loves other dogs and her tail will come out and wag when one is near.

After the Meet & Greet we stopped to visit some dog friends and let her run around in their fenced yard. She did great! She found a squeaky toy and just loved it.

Ginger had her spay surgery and is doing well. She was sad and disoriented the first night but recovered quickly.

She is ready to meet people and find her forever home.

This Saturday, February 16 (from 11:00am to 2:00pm), Ginger will be at the Meet & Greet in Lakeville, hosted by Wag N' Wash Natural Food & Bakery.

Come out and meet her!

Ginger Snap is doing great! She has been an awesome mama and her job will soon be done. Her puppies are 9 weeks old and will be going to their forever homes soon.

Ginger was having trouble gaining weight and her left leg did not look normal, so I took her to the vet for a checkup. It was decided that she needed to stop nursing the puppies. Her body was working so hard to produce milk that she was not getting any nutrition.

She was down to 37 pounds. I started her on a higher-calorie diet and stopped the nursing, and she has started to gain weight. She is back up to 42 pounds and is looking much better. I would like to see her gain a few more pounds.

We did an X-ray of her leg, and the vet said that it was broken at some point and she never received care to fix it. It has a permanent curve to it. She doesn't have any pain with it so we will leave it alone.

Ginger is going in for her spay surgery this week. She is ready to look for her forever family.

Ginger is still skittish and has some trouble going through a door. When the door opens she will speed through. She takes every chance she gets to dart through an open door, so I still consider her a flight risk. Her family will have to be diligent in keeping her safe.

Ginger still has some fears. She does get car sick and cries when we have to go in the car. Her family will need to be patient with her as she continuous to learn about the world around her.

She is the sweetest dog and loves to be petted and lay by my side.

In her forever home she will need:

  • Another dog her size
  • A fenced-in yard
  • No small children (she loves kids but small children can be a little too loud and they move too fast for her)
  • A family that will keep her safe and give her lots of love

Ginger Snap is still busy with her family. The puppies are 6 weeks old now. They are eating more solid food and starting to nurse less.

Ginger is starting to tell the puppies that she does not want to nurse them as much. She barks at them and they listen. Mama knows best!

This week she has finally figured out that the dog bed is a very comfortable place to take a nap.

Ginger Snap continues to do well. She is doing a good job taking care of her family.

They are now five weeks old and all over five pounds. It is time to give them solid food and start weaning them off of her. She will still be involved with them and help with cleanup. With eight puppies I can use all the help I can get.

Ginger is still very thin, and I have been trying to get some weight on her. So far it has not happening. She is eating nine to ten cups of food a day. With the puppies not nursing so often I am hopeful she will put on a few pounds.

She is letting the resident dogs get closer to her litter without getting protective of them. She still gets concerned if I pick up one of the puppies and remove it from the pen. She wants to know where her pups are.

She is getting bigger breaks outside the puppy pen. She still stays close by. When the pups sleep, so does she.

Ginger Snap is doing great! We are hanging out and watching puppies grow. Boy, are they growing. The pups are just over three weeks now. All of them are over three pounds and one is already four pounds. All of them are happy chubby pups!

Ginger is doing a great job caring for them. She is very attentive and is keeping them all full and very clean. She is producing a lot of milk. To keep her milk production up she is eating ten cups of food a day and drinks a lot of water.

The puppies all have teeth coming in and are starting to bite and play with each other.

Ginger Snap 18-230A

Ginger is such a happy girl. She loves all the attention from the people in our home. However, she is not very happy when the resident dogs walk past the puppy box. She will growl at them and tell them to get away. But when they go outside together she is fine and enjoys their company.

Look at that beautiful smile!

Ginger Snap is doing well! She is feeling good and is starting to get excited when we enter a room.

Her body has changed a lot this past week. Her belly is getting very big and she is resting and sleeping a lot more as we wait for her new family. As she's laying next to me I can see and feel her babies moving around inside of her. It is a very exciting time at our house.

At Ginger Snap’s last vet check her weight was 51.9 pounds. That is almost a ten-pound gain in three weeks. Six of them were put on in the past week and a half.

Ginger Snap 18-230A

Ginger Snap is a very sweet girl with a very soft mouth. She takes treats very nicely. She is treat motivated, and that is very helpful.

She is still fearful of going through things like doorways and gates. She will dart through and then turn around and look for me. I am hoping in time this will get easier for her.

Ginger Snap also has trouble walking on the wood floors. This is all new to her. We do keep a gate up and keep her on a carpet. I do not want her to fall down and hurt herself or the puppies she is carrying. We will work on this more after the babies come.

Ginger Snap 18-230A

We are very thankful this holiday weekend that RAGOM was able to get this girl out of the breeding system and into a loving home.

We will update again soon!

Ginger Snap comes to us from a commercial breeder through an auction house. She was listed as being in heat and was witnessed mating starting in early October. This meant she could be pregnant.

She has been with me for almost three weeks. I really didn't think she was pregnant until last Saturday when I went to let her out. Her tummy seemed to be hanging a little lower. Then on Monday when I picked her up to put her in the car she felt very heavy. She only weighed 42 pounds when she came in. At the vet that day she was 45 pounds.

We went to the vet for an ultrasound and we did get confirmation that she is indeed pregnant. This will be the last litter for this little girl.

Ginger Snap is only two and a half years old. She had a litter just a few months ago. Now she is going to have another litter. I feel so bad for these breeder mamas who are pushed into having multiple litters in a year’s time.

This last litter will be a much different experience for her. She is now in a home that is warm, and her belly will be filled with food and water. She has a soft bed and people who love her.

Ginger Snap 18-230A

Ginger Snap is very fearful of everything. She has a hard time going through doors. All noises scare her. She is starting to warm up to people. We do need to approach her very slowly. I consider her a high flight risk, so we are being very careful to use double leashes and we keep her on a tie-out in our fenced yard.

Ginger Snap will not be available for adoption until she is done raising her family. She is due around December 6, and then she will be mothering her family for about 10 weeks.

We found out that Ginger Snap does like puppies! My grand-dog Lainey came over to visit. They played nicely together! This was the first time that she played. It was so nice to see her so happy.

We will update often! Check back and see Ginger Snap's family grow.
