It is with heavy hearts we let you know that Gracie (10-255) has crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, October 21, 2016. She was a very special girl to our family and brought us together and most definitely rescued us more than we rescued her. So full of love and energy she loved her tennis balls and ‘patrolling’ the backyard fence perimeter for sneaky squirrels and bunny rabbits and she was also content to relax and sleep on the tile floor in the bathroom (she must have liked the cool feeling of the tile on her fur belly).
Gracie was fostered by Joan in Blaine, MN and came to our home in Lakeville, MN on June 11, 2011 at seven years old and quickly and easily became used to our everyday lifestyle. We went on walks around the neighborhood and at the Burnsville dog park. She loved riding in the car and pacing from one window to the other in the back seat. Gracie was at her mom’s side while Anne studied for her Certified Medical Coding tests. Gracie offering her own encouragement. In April 2015 Gracie was examined by her vet and found to have a mass on her liver about the size of a grapefruit. We were hesitant in putting Gracie through surgery at her age of eleven but when we asked Gracie what she wanted to do she said in her own way “Let the chips fall where they may!” She had the surgery and also had had her spleen removed along with a couple lobes of her liver. She pulled through like a trooper and very eager and spunky to play again. Two days after she was back at home with her mom (Anne) who had resigned her career to be home with Gracie during her convalescence and last year and half of her beautiful life. Gracie began to slow down in her last year mostly from arthritis but we did as much as we could to make her comfortable knowing the day nobody never wants to see come may be upon us. Gracie crossed the Rainbow Bridge at thirteen years and three days old very suddenly we had just celebrated her birthday the weekend before as we did on all her birthdays with her favorite treat-French dip roast beef sandwiches and Au jus and tennis balls which she just loved to defuzz! Thank you RAGOM and Joan her foster mom for bringing such a precious gift into our life, Gracie was a treasure to be with and I know she will live on in our hearts forever. As with my other dogs that have crossed over, as cliché as it may sound it is true I hardly go a day without thinking of them. Love forever sweet Gracie girl. John, Anne, Nicole and Daniel |
