Miss Queen Hattie has now gone home with her new mom. She will have all of mom's attention and time as she is retired and has an enormous heart, as does Hattie. She will have a nice fenced-in yard in which to spend time sniffing and checking everything out and just enjoying life.
She will have a large snow lab buddy to visit occasionally as well, just about the same size and color! Two great "girls" who will make an awesome team and enjoy the good things life has to offer. That you for making such a long trip to meet Miss Hattie! What a truly heartwarming match.
Hattie will definitely be greatly missed for sure and want to thank sister Lori for bringing her down and was wonderful meeting you as well. Another great part of fostering is meeting such absolutely wonderful people!
Hattie, we love you big girl. You are about as perfect as they come, and I am thankful we had the privilege of fostering you and loving you!

We are so proud of our big girl! We have now moved from our larger home to our new villa, and Hattie (and our corgi, Eddie and kitty, Lexie) have all made the transition beautifully. They are really adjusting well.
Hattie has such a laid back personality and just loves her human (and food!). She continues to do very well, and since we have been steady on her meds and supplements (Deramaxx, Tramadol, and glucosamine/chondroitin chews) she really feels good. She still prefers a harder floor than a soft rug... who knows! She is wonderful to everyone new she meets.
She enjoys her short walks and loves to use that Golden nose of hers. She has those brown eyes, which of course make you melt. She initially really missed our Maggie Mae I think, not quite sure where she went, but she and Eddie are doing fine together. Hattie would be just great as an only dog too.
She went to the groomer and had a nice bath and trim and enjoyed it. Her fur is so incredibly soft! She will try to put her front feet up in the vehicle and just hoist up the back end and we are good for a ride! This is one adorable Golden girl who sure needed RAGOM and is thriving!
Please, if you would like to sponsor Hattie, click the red SPONSOR HATTIE button here on her page. Or you can make a general donation by clicking the red DONATE button at the very top of our website. It will be greatly appreciated. We need support to keep these Goldens in the best care we can give them.

Hattie continues to be a senior Golden dream. She has an outstanding, calm, sweet, addicting personality. Able to adjust to different people in and out of the home, kids, grandkids and is oh so gentle. Now that she has been on her meds for a couple weeks, she is doing very well.
She just has such an incredible soft coat and enjoys being brushed and combed. She loves to lay in sun in the yard and just enjoy the world, rub her back and ears against the grass and enjoy a good Golden "roll." (So enjoyable to watch her!) Never any accidents and will ask to go out or come in. She has a small, mellow little bark to come in.
A very sad thing... we lost our beautiful Maggie girl... senior resident dog. She is the white one in the photo above. Maggie is a huge loss for us. She was 16.5 years old and Hattie and Maggie enjoyed each other—two senior girls hanging out.
So some dynamics have changed here. She and Eddie (Corgi) do fine and Hattie is one of those Goldens who does get along with most any other dog or cat or just by herself. She just has that great personality. Hattie will make such a beautiful, loving Golden companion!

Our big girl had a day at the vet. She did have x-rays and an ultrasound of her tummy. X-rays revealed she has spondylosis of her back, and her hips are not horrible, just "old" really. This accounts for her taking a little longer to get up (rugs and carpet are a huge help).
The ultrasound was pretty much negative for her enlarged spleen, which accounts for her "belly" (which does not bother her at all).
We are on recipe of Deramaxx and Tramadol, and that seems to help. She is just a love as we all know, and she is being spoiled accordingly! Hattie is a total gem and just an outstanding Golden girl.

Miss Queen Hattie came to us for foster care with RAGOM from North Dakota, where she was an unclaimed stray at a shelter. Hard to believe such things can happen to a beautiful, gentle, senior Golden Retriever.
She had a very long trip from North Dakota down here to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and it did, once again, take a village of wonderful volunteers to make it all possible and safe.
What we do know about this great Golden is she has the true heart and disposition of a Golden Retriever. So gentle, loving, and sweet—just a doll. She does great with our pack consisting of two other dogs (senior) and a cat (senior).
Hattie is a large girl, about 88 pounds or so. Her coat is velvety soft and her feet are big! She has free roam and is completely house trained.
Her hips are in tough shape—more info to come on that. In our home with rugs and a limit of a couple steps off the large deck, she does fine. Watch for updates as we have another upcoming vet appointment and will learn more about Hattie.
Because Hattie is a senior with hip and mobility issues, she will need a quiet home without active children and young dogs. She would do best with an older dog like her or being an only dog who gets lots of attention! And for her safety, we recommend a fenced yard.
This girl will win the hearts of many for sure!
