This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

15-318 Jack is a Golden Mix, 2 yrs, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro chipped. Jack weighs 47lbs and needs to gain 10 to 15lbs.  Jack is  sweet and loving,  good with dogs, loves to play ball, and lived with a cat.  Jack has no anxieties or guarding issues.  He loves to ride in the car and take walks.H e is crate trained.

Jack was lovingly surrendered because their resident dog does not get along with Jack. The RD is shy and reserved and she regressed since Jack came to live there.

I've only fostered Jack for about a week and this is what I know of Jack:

Jack does have a lot of energy. We have a 2 year old Golden mix and the two of them play constantly. He is a master at destroying toys--no stuffed toys for him. Jack has great recall so if he starts to wander --just call him and he comes running.  Jack loves to play fetch and is good about giving the ball back.

He does get on the furniture and wants to sleep in bed but eventually he'll go to a dog bed for the night. He loves being with people.
I've been working on some simple obedience, Jack does know sit and he takes treats very well. We are working on lay down and off--he's starting to get the idea that jumping is not allowed. He does need to learn to walk on a leash better but is slowly improving.

What we've discovered is that when left alone for long periods of time Jack will find things to get into and destroy. So, weekdays when we are at work we put him in a crate with a hard toy and hard bone. He seems to be fine with that. We can leave Jack for 2 hours so long as doors are shut and thing are picked up so that he can't get into trouble.
All said, Jack is a good friendly and loving guy who needs obedience and people to direct his energy in a positive way. I think he'll make a great family dog.

Hello all! Jack continues to do well, and battle through some anxieties here at our home. He's still a little apprehensive of certain situations and really looks to our resident dog for guidance. We had our resident stay with my parents for a few days, and Jack was completely lost. Pacing, anxious, et.  Because of this, we feel as though he needs another dog in the home. He takes so many cues from her and seems lost without a companion.

Otherwise, he's a happy dog. He loves to run and play and seeks lots of attention. We love him dearly!
If you'd like to know more about Jack, please ask!

Hello! So sorry for the delay in updates on Jack-o! He has since moved to his permanent foster home in Bondurant, Iowa where he is a happy, ornery, fun-loving little guy. He is a wonderful dog, plays great with our young resident, likes all of the kids he's met (though he does have a tendency to jump), and is an all around good boy. While Jack has proven to be one of the most loving dogs we've ever fostered, we have discovered that he does struggle with some anxieties, especially when we are at work.

We currently crate Jack in a plastic crate for an 8 hour work day. We have a camera we can use to check on our dogs during the day, and we know that Jack is pretty anxious all day long. He is improving, however, as time goes by and he becomes more comfortable in his surroundings. Jack also recently began some anti-anxiety medication with the hope that it will help ease his insecurities and help him feel more comfortable here.

Jack also has a tendency to submissively pee when he is scared. He is absolutely house trained, but when he gets scared or fearful, he will sometimes pee. He has had a lot of changes in his young life, and we aren't too sure what his life was like before RAGOM. His peeing has gotten SO much better, but it is still something we are conscious about. We've noticed that if you are holding an object (like a book or silverware (spatula), it scares him; he is also scared when you say his name loudly at all.

Jack is a tremendous dog. We love him greatly, he just has some barriers he's trying to get over to become the best dog he can be. We are all working hard to ensure Jack is feeling safe, secure, happy, and loved. If you'd like to know more about him, let us know. Otherwise please check back for more updates on this cutie.

Jack has been hanging out in our home in Solon, IA for the holidays!  He had some issues escaping from his wire crate and getting into things he shouldn't while his first foster family was gone, so he was moved to our house until his new foster can take him after the first of the year.  Everyone who helped with his transport commented about how nice of a dog he was, and how well he rode in the car!  We have really enjoyed having Jack here!  He is a high energy boy, but one of the sweetest dogs that I have ever met!  He was a little nervous the first few days, but then settled into our routine.  He has not had a single accident here, and I've crated him in a plastic crate for up to 5 hours without any problems or signs of him trying to get out.  We will be sending along the plastic crate with him to his new foster home so they can use it and see how he does for a full work day.  He loves to get a peanut butter filled kong when he goes in the crate!  Jack loves attention and he melts whenever someone is petting him.  He listens well and will go to his "place" (his bed) if asked.  We are still working on different commands, but he's picking them up quickly!

We have nicknamed him "Jack the Jumping Bean" since he acts like he has springs in his feet!  We are working on him not jumping on people when he gets excited.  He has really enjoyed having our two dogs and other foster dog to play with.  Jack and Sully, our puppy, run and run until they are too tired to move.  Jack has done well with them, plus our two cats and my 11 year old daughter.  Other than his jumping, he would do fine in a home with kids of any age.  Jack is a very smart dog and is quick to learn new commands and what is expected of him!  He loved the fresh snow that we got this week and spent hours playing in it!  Jack also loves toys and he quickly learned how to get toys out of the bins!
