Jerzey initially came into RAGOM because he had cataracts, and his owners couldn't afford surgery. In RAGOM's care he had the surgery and was adopted by a family with children. It's with a heavy heart that I report Jerzey has passed away. He was acting odd last week, and I thought it was his eyesight getting worse.

When he began getting ill and not eating, I knew it was time to take a visit to see Doc. Jerzey had x-rays and was diagnosed with a tumor on his spleen. It was decided to not operate with his delicate condition, and he has crossed the rainbow bridge.

When Jerzey came to my house for foster care we recognized the vision problem immediately. There were certain activities that Jerzey loved that he was not able to do, and one of them was go for walks. He would get very scared if someone approached on a bike, running, or roller blading.

It just made more sense to not do these things that frightened him. His favorite pastimes were watching shadows on the wall (he would follow the shadows all day long), playing with his dollies, and getting tons of itchies and scratchies.

Jerzey was a lovable fellow with a gentle demeanor. He will be missed.

Greetings from Grand Forks, North Dakota! My name is Jerzey, and I'm a pretty good boy. Foster mom tells me all the time that I'm pretty good, but she wasn't impressed last week when I decided to play with her good pair of black dress shoes (for work). I was just playing with the shoe since she didn't put them away, and I accidentally chewed the back off the shoe (it just happened, really).

Then Wednesday I found one of her shoes on the rug. She said they were wet and to leave them alone, but I decided it looked lonely and started playing with it. Foster mom came to check on me and scolded me for taking things that weren't mine. It was an accident!

My vision has continued to get foggy and I don't see very well. I look at shadows and chase them on the wall. I like treats and toys, love my foster brother Conner, but I would like it if he would live at home instead of "dropping in" now and then.

We babysat a 6-month-old Golden named Ruthie a few weeks ago; we played a lot. I like to call her Rufie, and she would get mad and try to bite my ears. I don't get to go on walks because of my aggression. Sorry, but it scares me. And when I'm scared I show my teeth and growl and bark a lot, and I'm hard to handle.

I would like to thank my sponsors. You rock! Well, that's all for now. Take Care! Jerzey

Jerzey here, just want to let everyone know I'm afraid of the lights on the Christmas tree. Foster Mom has to turn them off or I won't come sit with her and let her pet me. Oh, and I really love all the paper she's put in the presents. I've taken all of that stuff out and ripped it to shreds, but I left the gifts alone. I know Santa is watching me help her out.

Other than that nothing much is new. I still don't see very well, and I run into doors and walls so Foster Mom usually walks next to me and says "wait" or "stop."

I tried to get a pizza off the counter last night but she caught me. I was just going to taste it; it wasn't like I was going to eat the entire pizza. Geez... she just doesn't trust me sometimes. Oh, I also found out that Foster Mom doesn't mind if I sleep on the couch. She's so funny sometimes, but she's nice to me and I like her.

Oh, the other day my foster brother brought a Chocolate Lab puppy over that he was babysitting. I did not like Cash at all. He would walk next to me, and I couldn't see him. Then all of a sudden he would be in my face. Boy, did I have to tell him who was Boss. That's all that's been up with me: just hanging and waiting for my Christmas present. Take care all! Jerzey

Hi! My name is Jerzey and I’m a 7-year-old Golden Retriever. I like to counter surf (I’m really good at that). My Foster Mom thinks I move the kitchen step stool over to the counter and take things down to snack on when she’s not home.

I once took a whole Tupperware container off the back of the counter and very carefully lifted the lid and ate an entire container of monster cookie bars. Boy, did I have a tummy ache, and she was not happy about it either. Not that day or the next.

Another quality I have is I like to ride in the car. Foster Mom will take me to the garden, and I will sit in the back seat and not make a peep. I wish she would take me to work; I would be good like that all the time.

Things I like are my dollies; I carry them around, and I help my Foster Mom put her shoes away every day. Sometimes I will help her put her slippers away, too. I like to be outside, but only if someone is outside with me.

I like to chew up Kleenex and toilet paper and sometimes my Foster Mom's work papers (if she forgets them at home). This might be a bit of separation anxiety.

A little more about me: I have a detached retina and very limited sight in one eye. I also have seasonal allergies (Foster Mom feeds me grain-free food). I am OK with other dogs but I’m the alpha, and I can be bossy.

I don’t like dogs with cones on their heads. I resource guard my toys and food, and I don’t like it when people or other dogs come up to me on a walk. I’m a good walker but don’t like to walk too far. I’m not good on the bike path/greenway during heavy traffic times, because bikes scare me and so do runners.
