Kaptain was adopted by the W. family. He will have three human brothers who are so excited to have him as a part of their family. They will enjoy many outdoor adventures and a big yard to run, run, run! He was such a joy to foster and he will always be so special to us.

Season Greetings!

This time of year is a lot of fun. Let me tell you why. In the past week we have had a ton of visitors. Tall people, small people, and even furry friends.  I love playing with the furry friends. This time one actually got to come inside and run around with us.

We went upstairs and then downstairs and then upstairs and then downstairs. It was a lot of fun. So far I have not met a dog friend that I didn't like.

My foster family does not know a whole lot about my past but, they keep on saying that I must have done some sort of hunting back in my day or was head of a K9 scent force department.

There is just something that tells me when I catch onto a scent I must find out where it is coming from. Nonetheless, I think they are trying to say I have quite the sniffer.

Overall, I am a pretty happy-go-lucky guy that goes with the flow. I love to take naps with the humans and assist with vacuum duties if anything is dropped while cooking. They say, "Kaptain" and I will be right there to vacuum anything up.

Sometimes I will do some modeling of Christmas scarfs or antler ears. However, this time is was unicorn ear muffs. I really am a good sport and pitch in where needed.

I am really looking forward to the day my forever family will find me. I would love to spend the holidays snuggling up with you.

Let's keep in touch.  Kaptain

Hello!

I thought that I should write an update because lately we have been getting all these pictures in the mail with letters. My foster mom calls them Christmas cards but, to me, they just look like updates on how everyone is doing.

I have been here almost 2 months now. My foster family was working on my adoption however, it just was not in the cards. I know if I just be patient the right family will come along.

I have not had any health issues and I am working on losing some of those Thanksgiving pounds.  I am pretty proud of myself that I am almost down 5lbs. I am also looking rather sharp, as I just had a bath and haircut and am sporting a fancy new Christmas tie.

Some things that I continue to work on is my barking and pulling while out on walks. Now, lets talk some more about the barking. I only do it when I have to go to the bathroom, but the problem is, I can't stop telling them until I get to go out.

They say, "Do you have to go potty?" and then I say "I sure do, let's go, I have to go bad, hurry up, urgent, do you hear me, I must go now!" In dog language it sounds like "bark...bark bark...barkety bark bark...BARK." Once I go outside and do my business I am all quiet again.

The other thing is pulling when we go out for walks. It's something I just have to get used to. I am just so happy to go for a walk and be outside I just can't help myself. I need to be taught that it is not a race and it can still be fun, even if we go slow.

I am really looking forward to the day that I get my own furever family. Sure, I can be a big goof and hog the bed at night. I may talk a lot and like to snuggle on the couch. If you feel like those are some things you would like to do together, I would love to be a part of your family.

Greetings! My name is Kaptain. I am a 4 year old Labrador Retriever cross. I have been in my foster home for a little over a week now. Let me share with you how things have been going so far.

Within the first few days, my foster family took me to the vet. It wasn't so bad. I found out that I am 82 lbs of fluffy love. The vet said it would be ideal if I lose about 10 pounds. Other than that I checked out pretty well. I am up to date with all my shots, heart worm negative, and got all my preventatives.

I have a foster sister here. We get along very well. My foster mom thinks we look like twins, just different colors. I like to snuggle with her on the couch. So far I have gotten along well with other dogs I have met in the neighborhood and any company that we have had.

Seems like there are a lot of kids coming and going around this house and so far, I like everybody. I don't jump up on people to greet them (which I hear is not a polite thing to do) so I just wait for them to pet me.

I have not had a single accident since I have been here. When I have to go out I am pretty vocal about it. Almost too vocal! When my foster family asks me if I have to go outside I like to say yes, like a million times. I do this by barking and barking until they take my out.

They have been trying to say one bark is enough but, I don't quite understand yet. I feel like it kind of irritates them when I do this, so I hear talk about working on this issue.

Another thing I guess I have to work on is getting used to a crate. I don't think I have ever had to spend time in one of those, so I am definitely not used to it.  We tried it here and I did not care for it so I barked and barked and found a way out.

My foster mom was surprised to see me waiting for her at the door when she came home. After that I was allowed free roam and that is what I am most comfortable with. I don't get into anything and really just hang out with my foster sister until someone in the family comes home.

One other thing I thought I should add is I don't have a ton of experience on a leash. I tend to pull quite a bit when we are out for a walk. At this point the only one who can walk me is my foster mom or dad. This too will need to be addressed.

I think a few obedience classes just might do me some good. If you are willing to do that with me, please consider adding me to your family. I will return the favor with lots of kisses and snuggles on the couch.
