Lady Di has been adopted. Her name has been shortened to Lady.
Her foster family misses her but knows Lady Di will be living the Golden Life with Craig L and Mary R. Lady is going to a home of true dog people. She will have two fur sisters: Lucy and Miss Marley. There are sofas to sleep on, a lake to walk around, and two loving people who are home most of the time.
Mary is already cooking chicken breast and making homemade dog food to help Lady's digestive tract continue adapting to the American diet.
Lady's health is much improved thanks to RAGOM. The plant material and old wax that was stuck in her ears is cleaned out and her ears are healing. Her skin is much improved. She has no more bald spots. Her hair is growing rapidly and now feels soft. Her dental extractions were done. She has fewer teeth, but a healthy mouth.
Lady has transformed from a sickly, scared dog into a beautiful, healthy, loved member of the RAGOM family. Now in her forever home, she is ready to continue building her confidence. She will be well cared for, stimulated by the other dogs, and loved by her new family. This is Lady's Happy Ending Story.

Lady Di continues to settle into the American life. I have noticed two very positive things. She is beginning to play with toys. She is not certain what they are, but enjoys chewing on a Nylabone or elk antler. The other night she actually collected a few to have while lounging on her dog bed.
The other positive change I am seeing is her effusive greeting when I come home. She has been right at the door, excitedly doing a little dance and getting the party on with my resident dog. Doggy love is an enthusiastic welcome upon returning home.
Lady Di is just the sweetest, most gentle dog I have fostered. She is very friendly with people once she sees my resident dog approves of them. Since my resident dog approves of everybody, Lady Di is learning quickly it is good to make friends with both young and old.
She has met children from age 6 to 14. She will interact politely and accept kind attention. The little bare feet and striped leggings in the photo below belong to one of her younger friends.

Lady Di is doing wonderful settling into her foster home. We have had no accidents in the house for almost two weeks. Her sleep schedule is matching ours. Her digestive system is adjusting to her new diet. She has earned free roam when we are home. When we are gone she has free roam in a smaller portion of the house.
She has become good company and seems to be happier every day. She does not chase the cat when they encounter each other. She does continue to look to the resident dog for direction. When we leave the home, I know she is depending upon our resident to assure her she can stay calm because we will return.
Because she is a fashionista, she needed to accessorize her pink collar with a new pink and turquoise leash. Lady Di has many attributes that will make her a great addition to your home. One of the strongest is her amazing skill of loose-leash walking, just a thin leash and a harness and she is ready to go. She prances, stays by your side, and does not pull.

Welcome to America and RAGOM-land Lady Di. Lady Di is a good name for her. She has large eyes that stare deeply at you. She follows us like a shadow and she does not yet know she can relax. She seems quite determined not be left without a human ever again.
She is a tall, lanky dog and walks really well on leash. Her carriage is proud and she comes to life in public, prancing down the street. Lady loves to walk. Since she was not well nourished during her time on the street, her hair is sparse and dry. It is already improving and will become full and shiny in a few months. I expect a full thick coat of light blond hair eventually.
She has been with her foster family for 10 days. Lady Di has shown us she enjoys human attention and likes to be by your side. Her nose is incredibly sensitive. I know she can win prizes in "nose work."
So far she:
- learned her name
- is learning the command "come" in English
- taught her foster mom the Turkish command for quiet ("sus")
- brushed up on her potty training skills as she transitions to being a house dog
- let us know she is not a fan of staying in a kennel
- is tall enough to counter surf
We went to the vet and are very happy to assure her fans that Lady Di is a healthy dog. All her major organs were given a clean bill of health. With the help of the vet, we are helping her make a full recovery.
- Feeding a special prescription food to help settle her stomach. After months of eating bread, her digestive tract will take a while to become accustomed to American dog food.
- Lady Di's front teeth are not in good shape and may be causing her some pain. RAGOM will be taking care of the extractions before she moves to her adoptive home.
- We are cleaning her ears twice a week. They were full of debris, but not infected.
- She arrived with one eye closed and weeping. That improved within 24 hours. We are observing to see if her immune system needs a little help to completely fix this issue. She has some corneal scarring in both eyes. However, she definitely has vision in both eyes.
She and the resident dog met with no incident. They play together and share toys and space extremely well. More importantly, the resident is teaching Lady how things function in this country. The first few days Lady Di was afraid to go through a door. The resident is showing her that this is safe. Lady Di does get on the sofa and prefers soft dog beds for sleeping. She already knew that.
