Entered Foster Care Fence Kid Friendly Another Dog Cat Friendly
6/6/2014 Recommended Age 5+ Optional Yes
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Introducing....Lobo! He's got a big personality, but a "fun-size" body! He looks full-sized Golden in the pictures, but secretly, he's only 35 pounds. Is he not the cutest thing ever?! He is 8 months old, and is perfectly healthy. He's the perfect mix of energy and snuggly.

Lobo was surrendered at no fault of his own. His owners had a life change, and unfortunately, Lobo could not stay with them. A shelter in Iowa knew we could help him find his perfect forever home, so here he is. Now, he's a RAGOM boy! He is a Golden mix with a smaller breed - maybe a Corgi? Who knows. He gets his name "Lobo" from the University of New Mexico's mascot - the Lobos. He was born in New Mexico.

Lobo is as sweet as it comes. He wants nothing more than to cuddle next to you on the couch, or lounge around on the deck outside. He is fully house trained, neutered, and is fully vetted. He also doesn't mind sleeping in a crate, but he also tries to wiggle his way onto the couch or carpet for the night - as he's in my home longer, he might be able to finangle his way out of the crate for the night. :)

Lobo is also kid-approved. He has met a handful of children over the age of 5 and did great. He is very mellow for an 8-month-old, but he can also get quite excited when there are others to play with (aka kids, cats, another 8-month-old puppy, etc.). Did I mention he's great with cats and other dogs, too? (Now I did - so now you know!)

Lobo came to us a little over 2 weeks ago. He is the most adorable little bugger you ever did see!!!! When he is sitting out in the yard, there are times I swear he is a little fox. He has the coal black whiskers and nose, and one flopped ear. For an 8-month-old, he is super easy to have around. Vet health check was great! By far, his favorite thing so far has been playtime with our 2-year-old resident Golden. They play really well together! At first, we were worried that Lobo was more of a dog's dog vs. being attached to his humans. However, as time has gone on and we have built trust with him, he is turning into a little snuggle bug. Not really demanding, just crawls up and curls in my feet. :)

He does great in his kennel. To begin with, we had him in there at night and while we were gone. At night, he is now sleeping in bed with us (OK, so I am a sucker for that cute face and he is soooo good, I couldn't resist!). If we leave during the day, we do still kennel him. Think he has strong potential to have free roam, but not sure about the entire pack out together yet (I would leave him out before I would our 2-year-old). He sleeps for at least 8 hours.

He has the Corgi cry/talk. Was frequent when he first came, but as he has settled in, it mostly shows up if he wants/needs something. Has actually been very helpful as he is vocal when he needs to do his business. We did have a few accidents the first week. Once we learned his signals and routine, things have been great with zero issues for over 9 days.

Didn't respond to his name for us immediately, but that is also progressing. He knows off, sit, and down (down takes some coaxing). Beginning to focus more on training refreshers as we have his trust now, so more to come on that. Other than a tendency to chew through leashes (he now has one with a chain), he hasn't been destructive.

If you want a younger dog that is already house trained and not as big as a pure Golden, this guy is perfect!!!!!
