Logan 08-011

Profile

It is my great pleasure to introduce Logan to the RAGOM world! Logan is a 3-4 month old boy who came to RAGOM from a breeder. He was vetted this afternoon and then had two baths, a nail trim and got his ears cleaned up. He's a little squirt with big paws to grow into, at the moment he only weighs 24 pounds. He was shy and reserved, but his eyes (and tail) lit up when he met the two resident dogs in his foster home. He is our resident golden's shadow -- a fact which immensely pleases only one of them. Because he lived at the breeder longer than an average puppy he has a lot of catching up to do in the puppy socialization department -- fortunately it is not hard to find volunteers interested in coming over to get some puppy kisses and his social calendar is filling up quickly. We also took him to observe an obedience class tonight and he got to meet several new dogs and dog owners. It's been a busy, busy day for a little snugglebug who is now cuddling on my lap as I type this update.

At this point I would say that his ideal forever home would have another dog to show him the ropes since he really comes out of his shell with our dogs. He also needs a family who is ready to enroll him in obedience classes and make a very deliberate effort to expose him to a wide range of new people and experiences to help him make up for lost time in the socialization department.

Sorry for the bad picture, Logan was a little too tired to participate in the photo session today and was not at all sure what I was up to pointing that camera in his face while he was trying to nap. Hopefully we will get some better ones tomorrow!

This Rainbow Bridge tribute is long overdue.  But I made a promise to my very special boy Logan that I would do this, no matter how hard it is for me, I feel my Logan deserves everyone to know how much he was loved, how much he was treasured, how much he changed my life each and every one of the days I was blessed to have him as my dog.  His life began with a future unknown.  He was frail, thin and scruffy, but he loved everyone who touched him.  Ragom saved his life (and so many others the day he was rescued). Logan would be the 2nd Golden I adopted through RAGOM.  My first was Ginger (aka Nutmeg) #07-288, on June 22, 2007.  Logan joined us January 13, 2008.

Ginger and Logan were inseparable.  They had a bond between them that I had never witnessed between dogs.  When Logan passed, Ginger hurt for a very long time.  She still looks for him at our places we would walk together or in the yard where they played. But as great as their bond was the bond Logan and I shared was amazing, truly heaven sent.  We spoke to each other without speaking.  He knew my thoughts.  He knew my heart.

It's been almost a year since he passed away from hemangioma sarcoma on 12-12-13- he had just turned 6 years old.  I miss my friend everyday.  There is not a day I don't expect him to be on the other side of the door when I open it.  Logan got to live the Golden life he deserved and I was the lucky one to give it to him!  I don't understand why he was taken from me so early only the good Lord above knows that answer and I have to trust it was for a very good reason.  We will meet again, just over that rainbow bridge and I will run to him and hold him and feel his beautiful red coat of hair and warm doggie kisses all over my face.  And knowing my Logan, he will have a toy to give me and a paw up to shake and a joyous Woo-Woo when he sees me!  I miss and love you so much baby boy!!! I will never forget you, NEVER!  You have a family that will love you through eternity. You are forever a part of us.

MOMMA LOVES YOU LOGAN!!! Don't be sad or scared, you run and play and do all the things you couldn't do because of your leg.  You are healed now.  No more pain. Logan, you are, without a doubt, the dog love of my life.

Thank you for giving me the greatest love I have known,

Char S

Sending along a few photos of the super snuggler. He is also super smart - he already knows his name and has not had any accidents in the house today (knock on wood).

Logan will be at the RAGOM booth at the Burnsville Petco on Saturday, January 12, from 11 to 1. He is looking forward to meeting everyone!
