Afton is a sweet, energetic 60 lbs of pure joy.  He loves to be close and will crawl into the chair to be touching you.  He is a little skinny and his skin and hair show the signs of a poor diet.  But much of his coat is soft to touch.  He loves to have his belly rubbed and rolls over any chance he gets to have it done.  Afton barks very little at home, however when I took him to the Chuck and Don’s meet and greet he was very vocal with several of the other pups from Turkey.  That could very well be due to their time at the shelters.

Afton follows me closely at home and generally is in the same room that I am in.  He gets along great with my other dogs, even the little poodle who does not hesitate to put him in his place.  Afton lets Duster be the boss even though he could make lunch out of him.  Afton inhales his food.  I have purchased a bowl with slots that slows him down.  He is learning to sit for treats and sit before his bowl hits the floor.  Next will be to wait until released.  He pulls quite a bit on the leash but I believe with good training he will walk nicely.

Afton visited the vet and the good news is he is in good health ready to be adopted.  The bad news is he was a little anxious at the vet.  Care will need to be taken when vet visits come along to make sure it is a good experience for him.  He did NOT like having his temperature taken.  Considering how it is done – who would?   Otherwise he did okay.
