In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:
Entered Foster Care Fence Kid Friendly Another Dog Cat Friendly
4/10/2015 Not required  Not tested  Optional   Not tested
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Who could resist this cutie?  This lucky girl will always look like an adorable puppy!  Bella is a soon to be 6 yr old, female Goldendoodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle mix).

Bella was raised from a pup with her brother Romeo 15-098.  They had a loving home, but changes to the family made it impossible to keep the dogs, so they are both RAGOM dogs now.

So far, Bella has been a wonderful houseguest.  She seems to take everything in stride, and had an easy transition to our house.  We are now her very best friends as is everyone that she meets.  She also has been very nice to our very gentle senior resident Golden.  Below, the two took a break from exploring in the park while on our walk today for this photo op.

Does Bella like our walks?  She loves our walks.  Does she walk nicely on the leash?  Um...99% of the time that is a yes.  She has caught on so quickly since she has been here.  I expect her to do lenient heel on my left side while we are on the road, and she is great.   When we get to the park, I let her be the leader with a long leash.  ....Um....about that 1% of the time.....that would be when the social butterfly part of Bella's personality appears.  If we see another person or dog (which is rare in our neighborhood),  she sees no point in wasting time to get to them to let the party begin!  She is a force!  She is strong !  She wants to get to her friends NOW. You might have noticed in the pictures that Bella sports a harness.  That is the reason.  It helps, but it's not perfect.   I am going to progress to using a Gentle Leader on her for better control, for those moments.  I will keep you posted on our success with  Miss Social Butterfly's use of a Gentle Leader.

Below is Bella's first look at a lake EVER!  Will she go in???  More pictures to follow in the next update!

Lucky, lucky Bella!  She has been adopted by an awesome lady. As you can see, they are a bonded pair already!

Here is Bella's progression into the very new experience of being a swimmer!

"What is that stuff that Lacy is in???"

"I'm just not sure!"

"I did it!!"

"Whoa, I really did it this time and
I didn't even mean to.  I was just checking
things out on the dock, and just in
the split second that foster mom looked away,
I accidentally took the plunge off the
end of the dock.  I wanted to get to
foster dad where he was working on the
boat lift, but instead, still attached to the long
flexi leash that foster mom was holding onto,
I swam under the dock and wrapped myself up.
Luckily I could get shallow enough to stand up,
and foster dad quickly came to my rescue!
I can swim!!!  Awesome!"

Bella is fun and continues to do well with us.  She's not perfect, but usually easy and mellow.  Below are a few of our observations:

  • is perfectly housetrained
  • doesn't care to retrieve
  • is a perfect passenger in the back of my sport utility vehicle.  In fact, I could forget that she is with me!
  • is called "the happy girl" by my neighbor
  • occasionally picks up inappropriate items, and if they are food related, such as toast on a paper plate, she will even sample the plate!
  • loves to cuddle
  • hates to have her nails trimmed---and isn't crazy about being brushed either
  • has a lot of character and can be insistent
  • is current on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed and checked out great with the vet. A recommendation was for Bella to have her teeth cleaned within the next year as she has considerable plaque build up.
  • has lots of stamina, loves long walks, and I think would be a good running companion
  • sheds some
  • loves, loves, loves being around people.  She is always near one of us
  • is fine coexisting with our senior resident Golden, but mostly ignores her
  • is crate trained and even goes in on her own occasionally for a snooze
  • has a darling habit of sleeping on her back!
