Since my last update Caramel's time has been uneventful. She has settled into a routine and established her place among my two resident labs. An interested adopter came for a recent visit with her dog that turned into a lengthy play date. All went well and now Caramel is beginning her new life with her forever family in Iowa. We already miss her but are also happy for her.

In a few days I will have had Caramel for 2 months. It's hard to believe this is the same dog who arrived November 5th. I see in her a 7 month old puppy who is joyful, confident and curious each day. Caramel and I owe a debt of gratitude to my Labs, Mick and Gabby. It hasn't always been easy for them being harrassed by a 55 pound bundle of energy.
Since my last update I am happy to report that her coccidia test came in negative, her spay went well and an ear infection has been treated. I've been tempted to declare her potty trained a few times, but we're not quite there just yet. Her newfound confidence has her becoming a bit more mischievious and she's not trustworthy enough to be left unattended or unrestrained yet.
Caramel, in spite of the cold weather, loves being outside. She will often stay out even when the other dogs come in. She loves to bring sticks that she finds in the yard inside for a chew. If she's not napping when inside, she loves to lie in the bay window and look outside. She also loves the tug-of-war battles she gets into with Gabby.
Through no fault of her own, Caramel has had a few potential adoptions fall short of completion. The right place for her will happen some day; til then, she's in a good place right now!

With Thanksgiving behind us, I'd like to reflect on some things we're thankful for.
- We are thankful Caramel is acting more like a puppy and less like a backyard breeder puppy.
- We are thankful her second round of coccidia treatments are over.
- We are thankful she is making progress in potty training and obedience.
- We are thankful she has become very affectionate and engaging.
We are hopeful that Caramel's test for coccidia is negative and her spay goes well. Most of all, we hope the improvements she has recently experienced will continue with her forever family.

Carmel came to RAGOM from a breeder auction. She was very shut down and frightened. Her wellness exam when well except for discovering she has coccidia, which she just finished being treated for. She will be tested again in a week and is scheduled for spaying next month.
Caramel has made some amazing progress thanks to my Labs, Mick and Gabby. She still has a long ways to go, but she'll get there eventually. Potty training and walking on leash are the most pressing issues. She will need a home with patient owners. A fence and older dog are also a must.
