03/15/2017:

If you are looking for a Velcro dog who follows you everywhere and wants nothing but to be loved, Peanut is your girl! She has lived the majority of her young life in a commercial breeding operation, so is not experienced with indoor dog life. She is working to overcome a lack of socialization with people and normal home functions and noises. A cupboard door banging shut sent her running to the other room. Her reflection in the sliding glass doors had her spooked for a few days. Currently, she is fascinated with the TV.

Peanut will be 2 in May and has had at least one litter. She is a petite Golden Retriever at 50 pounds. She has been to the vet and was healthy except for typical worms and ear infections. She was also spayed. Peanut needed the support of my resident dog to get into the vet office and into the exam room. Otherwise, she goes flat to the ground and won't move. She is healthy and loves to run with my young resident or just to toss toys on her own and chase them. As with most commercially bred dogs, she trusts dogs to tell her what is safe and not. She follows my dogs through doorways or into new situations. She will hide behind me when new people come, but quickly follows my dogs up to get her fair share of pets. Peanut will go into her crate on her own to just relax with the door open. It is her safe place. So she absolutely needs another medium to large dog to follow.

I am confident she will overcome many of her fears as she learns that humans mean good things happen. She certainly has shown that with me in the way she approaches me for love. So if you have another fairly confident dog and older children (who are less likely to scare her with normal activity), you will fall in love with Peanut!

Peanut would like to send puppy kisses and a big thank-you to Friends of Flicka in memory of Yogi Bear. She thinks Yogi was a very handsome boy and must be sorely missed.

Peanut has come such a long way in the past few weeks! So many things that were so scary at first, she now takes in stride. She no longer sees another dog in her own reflection. Peanut has been having a blast running and wrestling with visiting dog Calli. They are good friends and are always either kissing each other while snuggling or wrestling.

Peanut has never had an accident in the house. She has graduated to being crate-free for several hours while I am away. She has learned to sit! She is also learning "go"--as in "that is enough kisses for Foster Mom. :) Now go play." She sleeps on my bed or on a dog bed at ngiht.

Peanut has a family interested in her! We are so excited for Peanut's new forever home.
