Introducing the smart and wiggly, Mia. Mia is a 1 1/2- 2 year old purebred Golden Retriever, who is house trained and loves her people. She is up to date with her immunizations, microchipped and will be spayed. She was surrendered to RAGOM due to her family feeling that they could not properly care for her and their 9 month old child.
Mia is currently in a foster home with 4 large resident dogs and 3 cats. She does well with them all, but due to resident dogs' size, she will growl at them when she doesn't want to play, not aggressively just a warning growl. She is a dog that needs plenty of exercise and loves to play fetch. She does not have good recall off leash, so she should not go outside without a fenced yard, a tie out, or on a leash at this time for her safety. If her forever home does not have a fenced in yard they must have a plan for meeting her energy needs. Mia gets car sick and can only handle short rides in a vehicle.
In her prior home she had a bad habit of eating socks so things like this must be kept out of her reach. She is crate trained, although has done well in her foster home only being baby gated in a room when the foster family is gone. She pulls when on a leash so will need continued training in this area. She knows the basic commands of sit, stay, down, drop it, and wait. She is currently on a medical hold as we work to get her allergies under control and she gets spayed. The vet did find that she has a grade 3 (out of 6) heart murmur. She has not shown any symptoms of this bothering her and does not currently need any medications for this but this will need to be monitored at her yearly exams. Mia is a playful young girl that will be a great addition to a family. Are you her purfect furever home???
