Adoption Day! It’s finally here. My family has been patiently waiting for me to get through all of my medical stuff, and finally I get to meet my new brother Finn and my sister Tilly. Here I am, looking pretty sharp with my new bandana. I sure hope they like me.

I finally got my surgery. Dr. Rose and his team were great, but I couldn’t wait to get home. This whole surgery thing is totally overrated.

I was a little bit groggy still for dinner.

I don’t like the cone. Its scary, and it catches on everything and freaks me out. My foster mom tried to make one out of a pool noodle, and that was ridiculous. Thank goodness she has Amazon Prime!

We saw Dr. Robert George last week, a doggie cardiologist at Oakdale, for my broken heart. They were really awesome there, and had lots of nice people to help me. In fact, I made new friends right as soon as I walked in when I saw two cute little humans with their mom.

I was a really brave girl, and they told my foster mom that we can schedule surgery. This time, they know how special I am and they will be ready.

Here are me and my foster sister. We are watching the lady eat popcorn. We think if we beg long enough she will share. Notice who gets the prize for persistence!

Monday, June 25, 2018

It’s my birthday! I’m two years old today and it was a great day. It started with chicken chew snacks in the morning and ended with a Frosty Paw after dinner. I am so glad RAGOM rescued me.

Guess who avoided the knife again this morning! Me! Miley 18-026A. I’m such a rascal! The lady at Kindest Cuts said I was "special," and the operation needed to be scheduled "special," and so they couldn’t do it today.

So, back to being a diaper dog for one more week, and we’ll try again next Monday. But hey, that’s my birthday! I really was hoping for more than a spay on my birthday!

But then, two days later, they called and said I’m too special for them, and I need to go see Dr. George next week instead. He knows all about dog hearts, and wants to see me on June 26.

Thursday, June 14, 2018

Well guess what! Today I decided that since my operation day is only one week away, maybe I should quick go into heat one last time. Of course, I didn’t know that they would cancel my operation.

Gosh – I really wasn’t trying to complicate things, but I guess me and Dr. Kilty won’t be meeting next week. I heard some talk about "Kindest Cuts," but I don’t know what that’s all about.

Meanwhile, they have me wearing this ridiculous outfit that is very comfortable and comes in different colors. I have a black one, a grey one, and a brown one. Thank goodness I only have to wear it in the house. They take it off before I go outside so the other dogs don’t laugh at me.

I have to tell you, we had some really strange things happening here today. I always follow my foster mom everywhere you know, and well, today when she went into the little room with the magic water bowl, there was this noise coming out of a hole in the floor.

I couldn’t figure it out, but it sounded kind of scary, like a monster was living down there or something. She laughed and told me it’s just the air conditioner. But I don’t know... it’s a little weird if you ask me.

We have a big road trip planned for the holiday weekend. I was a little bit panicky, because I was in the back and mom was in the front. But then mom got in the back with me and my foster sister Kayla, and dad settled down to do the driving. I was happy because mom was in the back with us.

We made much better time on the road then. I got to meet new friends and family. It was lots of fun and I was very tired by the time we got back to our house on Sunday.

We went to see Jolene and Dr. Kilty today. It sounds like the little white pills are working, and my heart isn’t having to work as hard. Everybody seems happy about this. When I stepped on the scale, I had gained two pounds. It must have been that puppuccino!

I am still a little nervous about getting in the car, but if my foster mom gets in first, I will crawl in after her. It sounds like me and Dr. Kilty have a date in the Operating Room on June 11.

Miley 18-026A

I’m starting to really get to be more and more beautiful every day. I’m so glad this bad haircut is growing out. Besides the fact that a little love and good kibble goes a long way!

Miley 18-026A

We got to go to Starbuck’s with the nice lady today, and since we were so good, we got to share a puppuccino. It’s so nice to share!

The snow is finally melted. I got to be a helper with yard cleanup and got lots of fresh air today.

Miley 18-026A

After a few more pictures and measurements of my heart, my foster mom says we have a plan. We are going to try this little white pill in my kibble with breakfast. If I do good with that, I am going to get a second little white pill with my kibble at dinner time.

It’s so little, I can hardly see it! If this all works like it’s supposed to, we go back to see the doctor in about a month, and then we’ll see about this operation everybody keeps talking about. All of this doctoring sure makes me tired. It’s nice to relax with my foster sister at the end of the day.

Hello RAGOM Friends,

I know I haven't written much lately, but so much has been happening! First of all, you probably noticed that my status is "Closed to Applications" right now. My mom says we may have a perfect match, but first things first.

I had my appointment to be spayed. But when I got there the nurses and doctors checked me out, and they said I had a heart murmur. We needed to get this checked out first, and then take care of the other surgery later.

So yesterday me and mom went to the doctor in Blaine. That was quite a drive from where we live. It was a rough morning because they forgot to feed me breakfast. Don't know what happened there, but my dad didn't bring me my dish!

And then the next thing I know, mom is lifting me into the car. I like to go for car rides, well sort of... I'm still trying to figure it out. But then we drove and drove and drove, and I got sick. I barfed all over the back of dad's car, so I guess it was a good thing they forgot to feed me (and a really good thing we had a blanket back there).

Miley 18-026A

We went in to the vet's office, and some really nice people were there to help me. My auntie Jan lives in Blaine, so she showed up to meet me and sit with my mom so she wasn't so nervous. And the doctor, oh my she smelled so good! They were very nice to me. Mom says test results so far are good, but they want to do another view to check another part of my heart. We will do that next Tuesday.

I am so lucky RAGOM found me. Otherwise, I couldn't have had much of a life with a broken heart and just having babies. Once I get my heart tuned up and my other surgery done, I hope this family still wants me. I would have a spunky 2-year-old sister to chase and play ball with and an older brother to keep us from getting into too much trouble. Paws crossed that they don't find someone else while I am busy getting healthy.

I tried to talk Tuesday the Cat into sharing her cat food this morning, but she was not very cooperative. And then mom caught me trying to sneak under the gate and I got scolded. She said I had to have some respect for gates, or else I could get into trouble.

Mom has finally come to the understanding that I just don't like the crate. We've had two weeks now of me sleeping in the human's room. There is a dog/cat bed on the floor by mom's side, and I try to start out there. But sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night, and I'm cold and scared. If I'm really quiet, I can sneak up onto the big bed, but if I get caught, it's back to the dog bed for me.

Miley 18-026A

So that's my news. I hope you are as excited about all this new snow as I am. There is nothing better than fresh powder, but you want to remember not to use the white ball to play with.

Love, Miley

Sunday, March 18, 2018

Hey everybody! Miley here with a quick update on my adventures this past week. I have to say, it's been nonstop, crazy fun here - soooo much better than living on that dog farm.

Every day my mom tells me that I seem to have more energy than the day before! She has been trying really hard to test my limits, but I am keeping up really good. I am regularly getting three walks a day now: morning, noon, and night. I would really like to run, or even kick it up a notch or two, but mom says she is too old to run and the best we can do is walk fast.

With the nicer weather, there are all kinds of strange little creatures outdoors on things with wheels, with crazy hats on their heads, screaming loud and being scary. We stop and pause to take it in, but I'm just not too sure about all of this commotion yet.

I am still working on my communication skills, or better said, mom and dad are working on theirs. I am still a puppy, and no one has ever thought I was important enough to learn some manners. I have a really high IQ though. Mom says I'm really long on the smarts, but my memory is short. We did a puzzle last night. Of course, I knocked it out of the park with my smartness.

Miley 18-026A

My cat sister, Tuesday, and I have been doing really well getting to know one another. She let me lick her face once this week, and I thought we were almost BFFs until I crossed the line this morning. She let me have it, and I was a little embarrassed and had to back off. Mom says that's just Tuesday, old and crabby, but it was kind of scary for me.

Miley 18-026A
Miley 18-026A

This week we found the tennis balls. It's my new favorite thing. Mom brings these out after our evening walk to wear me down, but it's obvious to her now that I could play for days chasing after these things. Sometimes she gets three or four or even five of them going, and I chase all of them. Sometimes I chase after them with one in my mouth, and then I have to drop that one to pick up the other.

Miley 18-026A

My operation is coming up soon. There are a couple of good-looking boys across the street who have been trying to get my attention, but mom says we don't need any Golden Bulldogs or German Goldhair Pointers, so she is keeping me on a short leash. They are really friendly, and I'd like to be friends. But I'm still a little nervous around other big dogs.

Think Spring!

Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Hello RAGOM fans! My name is Miley. I am one of the new girls that got lucky on March 3 when I was rescued at an auction in Missouri, thanks to RAGOM. Before I knew what was happening, me and 11 of my friends found ourselves on our way to Minnesota on the freedom ride of our lives. And so began my life as a RAGOM girl.

Miley 18-026A

It has been quite a week! But let me tell you, I am really loving it here. For one thing, I am learning so many new things. The first thing was what it means to be on a leash. Not my favorite thing, but mom says it's a must to keep me safe. So I'm okay with that.

In my new foster home, I have a big sister, Kayla, who is helping me figure things out. She is kind of quiet and doesn't really like to play much, but she's very calm and she is trying to teach me about calm. Actually, I think calm is overrated, but mom says it's important to learn some manners so I am trying.

For instance, I thought at meal time, I should just share the food dish. That's what I used to do with all of the other big dogs. But mom says no. I have my very own food dish here, and she brings me to a separate room to eat. At first I didn't want to, because I didn't understand why.

She let me eat out of her hand for starters, and it was pretty good. The next day, she sat with the dish in her lap, and I ate all of my food. Now she can set the dish on the floor, but stays right there while I eat. I am cleaning my plate every time now!

Miley 18-026A
Miley 18-026A

I also have a cat sister here. Her name is Tuesday, which I think is kind of a weird name. She is very vocal, and is always yowling about something, but mostly when she wants to be fed. Her food smells wonderful, and sometimes mom will give me a little taste on the fork if dad's not looking.

Tuesday is old, and kind of crabby, but mom says she is 18 so that's why. She will let me sniff her, and I am very careful by her because I'm just not sure if I can trust her yet. She is kind of scary if you cross her.

There are a lot of different, strange and even downright spooky noises here. The garage door opener for example! Wow, that was scary, but once I learned that this is my window to the world, I decided to suck it up and be brave, and wait patiently while the door opens.

My mom works, but works from home so she is here all day. Dad takes me for a walk after breakfast, and mom takes me at lunch. Sometimes we even go for a third walk at dinner time. Sometimes Kayla goes with us, but not all the time. She is kind of lazy and doesn't appreciate what a little fresh air can do for a girl.

Miley 18-026A

I have already learned how to do stairs, which mom was amazed about. Actually, my first attempt at stairs was after my first bath. When they let me out of that spa room, and I saw the stairs as my only escape? You aren't kidding I was going to manage those stairs! She says I'm a rock star!

We have been working on our communication style a lot this past week. When I get excited or need love, I jump on people and try to use my mouth to get them to pet me. Mom is trying to teach me that it works better if I don't jump, but sit quietly and then she hugs me and pets me and scratches my ears and my back and my shoulders. I love that. She says that I will need a lot of love and attention to make up for the lack of this in my past.

As part of my new life, my mom took me to see the doctor. I had to go for a car ride to get there, but did just fine because my calm lazy sister came with. Pretty much a non-event for her since she has gotten used to going places and doing things with mom, but this made me a little bit nervous.

I was a really good girl at the doctor's office, and they were so nice to me. They even had some really stinky dog treats - not just the milk bone, crunchy kind, but the ones that are soft, and chewy and smell really fine.

Miley 18-026A

Miley 18-026A

Mom says we are going to go back to see the doctor soon so that I can have an operation. I don't know what that means, but she said I'm a rock star so I'll be fine. I recently had a litter of puppies, so my body is a little saggy in places, and I got a really bad haircut at my old home, but that is growing out. I'm already looking more and more beautiful every day.

Miley 18-026A

My mom says that we will find a furever home that is even more wonderful than this one, but we need to take care of this operation thing first. Check back soon to hear more about my adventures.

Love, Miley
